Funk Master Overview

These days NetEnt doesn’t release as many slots anymore like they used to, which is a shame, since this is a NetEnt website. But I’m very happy to announce that after their earlier release, Knight Rider, they have now released Funk Master.

Funk Master takes us back to the 70’s disco era, with a huge amount of colored disco balls. And the music to match.

They must have looked at very popular games like Jammin’ Jars and Jammin’ Jars 2, because this game feels like it would fit that series perfectly.

Funk Master is a game that uses a grid of 8 by 8 symbols. And comes with cluster pays. Meaning that any combination of 6 or more of the same symbols that are horizontally or vertically connected count as a winning combination.

This game also uses avalanches, where winning symbols are removed and all symbols fall down and new symbols fall on top. Creating the option for another win.

As symbols you will only find disco balls in different colors, where the orange one is the highest paying one. Wild symbols can also appear as a multi colored disco ball.

Funk Master comes with a maximum payout of 3.337 times your bet, which by the way is pretty low.

Funk Master Features

Dancing Wilds

Wild symbols can land anywhere on the grid. When a wild symbol was used in a winning combination it will then move to an adjacent, now empty, spot on the grid.

Dancing Wild Hotspot

During each normal spin a 2×2 size border is placed at random on the grid. When a win removed one or more symbols within that border those spots are now activated, when you manage to remove all 4 spots you will be awarded with an extra wild symbol.

Multiplier Symbols

During all normal spins and during free spins you will see special multiplier symbols appear on the grid. These will have a value of x2, x3, x5 or x10. These multipliers are applied to the total current win of a spin. They are first added together and then multiplied by the total win.

Free Spins Feature

when you have 3 or more wild symbols on the grid at the same time, you will trigger the free spins feature.

You are awarded 6 free spins.

All wild symbols that triggered the free spins will stay on the grid during all free spins.

During free spins the Dancing Wild Hotspot is now 3×3 in size. If you manage to activate all symbols within that hotspot during free spins you will receive 2 extra wild symbols and the reels will grow by 1 row. Up to a maximum of 12 rows.

Verdict

I’m very happy there is a new NetEnt slot release. And I think NetEnt did a great job with Funk Master.

Like I mentioned before, the game feels a lot like Jammin’ Jars and Jammin’ Jars 2. A grid, wild symbols walking around on the grid. It’s all the same.

And it’s very enjoyable.

But there is one negative about this game, for me personal. And that’s the maximum payout. I think that’s way too low for a game like this. But this also doesn’t make the game very high volatile, but only high volatile, so that might attract more players.

Overall a nice addition for NetEnt and I am sure one that many players will enjoy. Now available at all NetEnt casinos.
