Dr. Toonz is a new online slot game from Play’n Go.
This new game feels a lot like Reactoonz and Reactoonz 2 and even uses a lot of the same symbols. But theme wise it’s more like an evil scientist creating the characters. So like a prequel.
The game is played on 6 reels, which are each 4 symbols high, giving you 4096 ways to win.
All symbols, except wild and scatter symbols, may appear stacked on all reels.
Dr. Toonz also uses cascading symbols. Winning symbols are removed and new symbols fall on top creating the option for another win during the same bought spin.
Quantumeter
On the left of the screen you will find Dr. Toonz himself. He also has a meter with three sections that will fill. The meter starts on 0, 1 or 2 filled parts.
Each time you get a winning combination this meter will fill up. When you fill the meter you will get a random bonus.
- Disintegration – removes all low paying symbols from the reels and adds 2 random wild symbols
- Metamorphosis – transforms between 5 and 8 regular symbols into one and the same other symbols
- Quantum Wilds – adds between 2 and 6 random wild symbols to the reels
The bonus meter can only be filled once during a bought spin.
Free Spins Feature
3, 4, 5 or 6 scatter symbols will award 10, 15, 20 and 25 free spins respectively.
During free spins the Quantumeter starts with at least 1 or 2 parts already filled.
Also each reel might have a x2 multiplier above the reel. When symbols on that reel take part in a winning combination, this multiplier is applied. More than one can be added during each spin. Even all 6 reels can have a x2 multiplier. If you manage to active them all they would multiply by 64 times.
You can’t win more free spins during this feature.
Verdict
Dr. Toonz has a lot in common with Reactoonz 1 and 2. But is a different game. First this game doesn’t use a grid, but ways. But also the fun about the Reactoonz slots was the fact that bonuses keep accumulating and finally gave that huge wild symbol. Dr. Toonz doesn’t have that.
You can get 1 bonus during a bought spin or during a free spin. But that’s it. And I feel that somehow it makes this game less interesting. If you could fill that meter several times during a spin, that would have bee a lot better.
The game is fine and also fun. And can also give some very good hits. But it is missing some real excitement for me.
