Lost Relics 2 Overview
Back in 2018 NetEnt released a game called Lost Relics. And now, 5 years later, we get a sequel with the simple name, Lost Relics 2.
In the original a female explorer was digging for treasure in Central America and this time it’s a male explorer. A Indiana Jones type guy.
The reels seem to be set inside some old ruins. Maybe a lost temple even. It all has this bit of mysterious look and feel to it. Which is very cool.
The game uses 6 reels that are each 6 symbols high and comes with cluster pays instead of lines. 5 or more of the same symbols, horizontally and/or vertically connected, count as a winning combination.
For symbols we find different colored suits symbols and broken masks in the same colors. There are also scatter symbols, which can appear on all reels. Wild symbols can also be added to the reels, but only due to special features, explained below.
Lost Relics 2 comes with a maximum payout of 21.148 times your bet. A pretty good number.

Hidden Chests Feature
The symbols on the reels are set on stone blocks. When a winning cluster appears, those blocks are removed. Beneath those blocks treasure chests are hidden.
When blocks are removed, part or all of the treasure chest might be revealed.
When a full treasure chest is revealed it will award random modifiers.
Once you have received the modifiers and are paid, all blocks are added again and new treasure chests can be revealed.
During the base game there is always just one treasure chest available. During free spins there are 3 or 4 treasure chests, except on the final level, more on that later.
Treasure chests can be Silver, Golden or Amethyst. The bigger the chest, the better the rewards. Rewards can be:
- Multiplier – will award a multiplier of x2, x3, x4, x5, x6 or x7, which is applied to the total winnings from the current spin
- Random Wilds – will award up to 7 random wild symbols that will be added to the reels
- Cash – will award an instant cash reward of between 2 and 250 times bet
- Free Spins – will award the free spins bonus or add more free spins during free spins
- Level Up – will award a growth of the grid, up to 10x1o symbols, only available during free spins
Free Spins Feature
Free spins are triggered by a treasure chest, or landing 3 or more scatter symbols.
You are awarded with 10 free spins.
More treasure chests are now available under the blocks. And when you get a level up symbol, the grid will increase to 8×8, 9×9 and finally 10×10 symbols big.
When you have reached the final level, which is 10×10 symbols. One Amethyst treasure chest sits beneath the blocks, once this is reveleaded, no more treasure chests will appear.
As an added bonus, multipliers will stay active during all free spins and accumulate, so can only go up. And all wild symbols become sticky wilds for the duration of the free spins.
Verdict
With NetEnt these sequels are somewhat of a hit and miss. Some are great, like for instance Dead or Alive 2. But some are pretty bad, like the already discontinued Twin Spin Deluxe.
With Lost Relics 2 I think they have another hit.
The game looks amazing and they packed in so much modifiers and features that it keeps moving forward. What helps, but can also hinder, is the fact that you want to reveal those treasure chests. And sometimes you hit them instantly and sometimes it takes a lot of spins. So be aware of that.
The original game came with a maximum win of 6.000 times bet. And that has also been increased a lot, more than 21.000 times bet is now possible.
Overall an amazing new game from NetEnt. I hope they keep it up, because we’ve seen some duds lately.
