I’m always very excited when Big Time Gaming releases a new online slot game. They create some of the best slots, in my opinion. And I am always wondering what they come up with next.
Now they have released Wild Portals Megaways. Yes another Megaways game, but from the original inventor of the Megaways mechanism.
Wild Portals Megaways uses a sort of space theme with standard card symbols and different colored stones. The colors are used on several other Big Time Gaming slots, like for instance Pirate Pays Megaways and Apollo Pays Megaways. The purple one always being the highest paying symbol. Which is really nice once you know that.
You will also find scatter symbols, which are golden emblems. A wild symbol can also appear, but that’s a different feature, explained below.
This game uses 6 reels that are between 2 and 7 symbols high during each spin. This will give between 64 and 117.649 ways per spin.

Wild Portals Megaways Features
Wild Portal
During the base game a wild symbol of 2×2 symbols big can appear on reels 2, 3, 4 and/or 5. This looks like a portal.
After you are paid any normal wins with this wild symbol, it will open up and reveal any of the low paying card symbols. All instances of this symbol are then collected from the reels and sucked into the portal. And each symbol will increase the multiplier on the wild by x1.
All symbols will fall down and new symbols fall on top, which can be more of the chosen symbols, which are then also collected. And the portal might also show a new symbol which are then collected. After all collecting is done you are now paid any winning combination, but with the active multiplier on the wild portal.
Free Spins Feature
The free spins feature can be triggered three different ways.
- 3 scatter symbols will award 8 free spins and 2 extra free spins for every extra scatter symbol
- Win more than 75 times your bet and exchange that win for 8 free spins and an extra cash reward
- Win between 25 and 75 times your bet and spin a wheel to win either 8 free spins or lose your winnings
During free spins the wild portal is always on screen and will roam around the reels after each spin. It will work the same as before and collect chosen symbols as multiplier. But between spins the multiplier never resets, so it can only go up.
3 scatter symbols during free spins will add 2 more free spins. Any extra scatter after these three will add 2 more free spins.
Verdict
Big Time Gaming managed to create another very fun new Megaways slot. Although the game does feel a lot like other titles from the same provider. It has some Apollo Pays Megaways and also some Final Countdown Megaways feel. But it is different enough to enjoy them all.
The Wild Portal appears very often during the base game, which keeps the game going and not become boring. But as most games, the free spins feature is where it’s at. But this feature seems a lot harder to trigger. It does help to exchange winnings and try to win the feature.
When the free spins really take off you can except some huge wins. Especially knowing that the maximum payout is huge on this game.
