Hacksaw Gaming has released a beautiful looking new online slot game called Aiko and the Wind Spirit.
This game looks like a Ghibli Studio animation and has a very Japanese anime look. Surrounding Aiko, a girl and some cute looking wind spirits. It all makes for a beautiful looking game with an amazing theme. Proving that slot themes can be done very well.
The game uses 5 reels that are 4 symbols high and comes with 14 paylines, like a lot of Hacksaw Gaming slots do.
Besides low paying card symbols you will also find medium to high paying items and Aiko herself. There are also wild symbols on all reels, which are the wind spirits. Free Spins symbols also appear on all reels and lastly there is a special Zephyr Crest symbol, also possible to land on each reel.
Aiko and the Wind Spirit comes with a nice big maximum payout of 10.000 times your bet and is a medium volatile slot game.
Features
Wild Spirits
When one or more wild symbols, or Wind Spirits, land it will expand when it can become part of a winning combination. The wilds expand upward, to the top of the reel.
It will also receive a random multiplier of between x2 and x100. When more than one wild is part of a winning combination, multipliers are added together.
Zephyr Crest Symbol
This symbol can land on every reel. When it lands and at least 1 wild symbol is also present, it will activate a feature.
All wilds will expand upward, even when they are not part of a win. After this all wild symbols will move to the left, one reel and you get a free re-spin.
A new Zephyr Crest symbol can land during a re-spin, awarding another re-spin.
Free Spins Features
3 or more scatter symbols will trigger a free spins feature. Depending on the number of scatters that triggered the feature, you will play a different free spins feature.
- Spirited Spins – 3 scatter symbols – 10 free spins with an increased chance of landing Wild Spirits – 2 or 3 scatters during free spins will add 2 and 4 extra free spins.
- Whispering Winds – 4 scatter symbols – 10 free spins with the same features as Spirited Spins, but each multiplier added to a wild spirit is then collected above the reel and added to any new wild spirit landing on that reel. So it will only increase.
- Midnight Magic – 5 scatter symbols – 10 free spins with the same features as Whispering Winds, but guaranteed 2 wild spirits during each spin.
Bonus Buy
Aiko and the Wind Spirit offers several bonus buy options. For 3x the bet you can activate a 5 times higher chance of triggering the bonus. For 50x the bet you are guaranteed to land at least 2 wild spirits on each spin. For 100x the bet you can buy Spirited Spins and for 200x the bet you can buy Whispering Winds. Midnight Magic isn’t available as a bonus bu.
Verdict
Aiko and the Wind Spirit is a really good looking game with fun features and bonuses.
The expanding wilds with multipliers seem to appear pretty often. And all three free spins features are fun to play. Of course you want that Midnight Magic one, but that one is pretty rare to get. But Whispering Winds is also pretty exciting already.
Overall it’s a solid title that especially stands out because of the theme.
