Big Time Gaming has released a new online slot game that is truly unique. The game is called Crystal Towers and doesn’t really come with a theme, but more with a Tetris like look.
The game also doesn’t really use normal reels. But a 4 sided tower of 5 symbols high and 5 symbols in width. And symbols pay in clusters, so 5 or more of the same connected symbols count as a winning combination.
When wins are determined the tower will then spin and more winning combinations are possible. The those winning combinations are removed and new once fall on top to create the option for more wins and rotations. It all sounds a bit complicated, but when playing it’s clear pretty fast.
Besides normal paying cubes in different colors there are also three types of wild symbols. Normal wilds, multiplier wilds and a wild that can trigger the free spins feature. And that are all symbols that can appear.
Crystal Towers comes with a huge maximum payout of 90.050 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.

Free Spins Feature
When a special free spins trigger wild symbol is part of a winning combination, it will award 10 free spins. More than one can appear at a time, each giving 10 free spins, but if one of those wilds is part of several winning combinations, it still only awards 10 free spins.
The tower starts 6 rows high during free spins and on spins 3, 5, 7 and 9 and additional row will be added, to a maximum of 10 rows.
After the initial spin, the bottom 1 or 2 rows are removed before each next spin and new rows are added on top. And after the first spin up to 10 random wilds will be added to the tower before each spin.
The special wild symbols can also still appear and add more free spins, as normal.

Verdict
Let me start by saying that I love the fact that Big Time Gaming is always trying something new and comes up with new ways to play online slot games.
But for me, Crystal Towers, might be a bit too different for my liking.
It’s not a difficult game, but for me the tower doesn’t add anything and also, started to annoy me after a while. Spins aren’t quick and you can’t activate a quick spin option on Big Time Gaming slots. And the game just started to feel slow for me after a while.
Especially since payouts didn’t seem to be great. Most wins are small, low. And I know the game can payout huge, I mean almost 100.000 times bet. How? I am really wondering how. Because I have played the game a while and free spins never got interesting. Not even a really big win, to be honest. I am sure it’s possible and I was probably unlucky, but still.
I really appreciate the effort Big Time Gaming put into this game. And I am also sure that there are enough players that will enjoy it, especially with that huge maximum win. But for me, I think it’s one of the only Big Time Gaming slots I just don’t like.
