Frightening Frankie – Overview
Pragmatic Play, together with Reel Kingdom, has just released another new online slot game just in time for Halloween. The game is called Frightening Frankie and, as the name might suggest, revolves around the monster of Frankenstein.
Somehow they always call the monster Frankenstein, but that’s not correct. The monster didn’t actual have a name in the original novel. And the scientist is called Frankenstein. But over time, most people will refer to the monster as Frankenstein himself.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 3 symbols high and comes with 20 paylines.
Besides low paying card symbols and medium to high paying symbols that fit the Frankenstein story, you will also find wilds on all reels. All these symbols appear stacked on all reels. Scatter symbols can appear, as a single symbol, on each reel. And lastly there are lightning bolts, which can also appear single on each reel.
Frightening Frankie comes with a maximum payout of 2.800 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.

Lightning Free Spins
When a lightning bolt symbol appears on the reels, you are awarded with 2 free spins and the lowest paying symbol will be removed from the reels (starting with the 10, then J and so on).
More than one lightning bolt can appear at the same time, awarding 2 free spins each and each removing a low paying symbol.
Each time a new lightning bolt appears, you are awarded with 2 more free spins and a another symbol removal. Up to 5, all low paying card symbols, can be removed, after this lightning bolts don’t appear anymore.
If 3 or more scatters happen to appear during these spins, the free spins feature will trigger with the same symbols removed.
Monster Trail Free Spins
3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols will award 10, 15 and 20 free spins respectively.
Free spins start with a x2 multiplier.
During these free spins, test tubes can appear. Each one will be collected on top and each time you have collected 7 of them, you are awarded with 10 extra free spins and x1, x2, x5 or x10 multiplier is added to the general multiplier.
Lightning bolts can also still appear, which will remove lowest paying symbols, up to a maximum of 5.
Bonus Buy
For 100 times bet you are able to buy Monster Trail Free Spins. This will award 3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols at random.
Verdict
To be honest, when I saw the game, I was like, this is going to be a pretty basic slot. But I ended up liking it a lot.
The combination of the lightning bolts and the trail free spins are a lot of fun. And all symbols can appear stacked, which can award some great wins, especially with big multipliers.
I do however wonder why most Pragmatic Play slots have a standard 5.000 times bet maximum payout and this one only goes up to 2.800 times. I think this could have been higher to make it even more interesting.
Overall I enjoyed the game and recommend giving it a try.
