Rainbow Princess – Overview

Recently Hacksaw Gaming released a beautiful looking slot game called Aiko and the Wind Spirit. Which had an anime type feel to it. Now they have released another new slot, Rainbow Princess, which also seems to keep a little bit into that anime theme.

It’s one of those themes where a princess stands next to the reels and this time the reels are in the clouds. It all has this pastel look, which does make for an attractive look.

The game uses 6 reels that are 5 symbols high and comes with a cluster pays mechanism. 5 or more of the same symbols, that are horizontally and/or vertically connected, count as a winning combination. And it also features tumbling reels. All winning symbols and all of the same type of symbols, are removed from the reels and new symbols fall on top. Creating the option for another win, this keeps continuing until no more new winning combinations appear.

Besides low paying gems and medium to high paying luxury items, you will also find wild symbols. And scatter symbols, which are the princess, can also appear on all reels.

Rainbow Princess comes with a nice big maximum payout of 10.000 times your bet and is a medium volatile slot game.

Features

Magic Frame Multipliers

Any spot on the reel can randomly receive a Magic Frame. This frame comes with a random multiplier of between x2 and x100.

When a winning cluster is formed with symbols with a frame, the win is multiplied. If more than one frame is used, the multipliers are added together.

When a Magic Frame is used in a winning combination, the value of the multiplier is then doubled for the next tumble. The frames will stay on the same spots until all winning tumbles are done.

Free Spins Features

3 or more scatter symbols will trigger a free spins feature. Depending on the number of scatters that triggered the feature, you will play a different free spins feature.

• Tiara Treasure – 3 scatter symbols – 10 free spins where all Magic Frames will become sticky until the end of the feature – 2 or 3 scatters during free spins will add 2 and 4 extra free spins.

• Make it Rainbow – 4 scatter symbols – 10 free spins with the same features as Tiara Treasure, but now all winning symbols are collected into a special Rainbow Meter on top of the reels. When this meter if filled it will add between 3 and 5 random wild symbols onto the reels and will reset.

• Throne of Starlight – 5 scatter symbols – 10 free spins with the same features as Tiara Treasure, but all spots will have a Magic Frame that starts on x4.

Bonus Buy

Rainbow Princess offers several bonus buy options. For 2x the bet you can activate a 3 times higher chance of triggering the bonus. 50x the bet will guarantee you to land at least 1 winning cluster and 5 guaranteed Magic Frames. For 75x the bet you can buy Tiara Treasure and for 200x the bet you can buy Make it Rainbow. Throne of Starlight isn’t available as a bonus buy.

Verdict

I always like an anime theme for a slot game. I think it makes the game look more interesting somehow. And after Aiko and the Wind Spirit and now Rainbow Princess, Hacksaw Gaming is spoiling us.

The game itself is a solid title. It comes with enough base game mechanisms to keep that interesting. But, as we’ve seen more lately, also comes with 3 different free spins features. Depending on the number of scatters. Which also keeps the game interesting. Because you want to see them all.

Overall Rainbow Princess is a fun game with a nice look and big win potential.
