Miami Mayhem – Overview

Hacksaw Gaming released a new online slot game that is taking us back to the 80’s and the popular TV show, Miami Vice. With neon colors and a Miami vibe. This new game is called Miami Mayhem.

It revolves around a gang of 5 different members that seem to be getting ready for a heist, with bats in hands. It makes for a very cool looking game, that uses a lot of 80’s colors.

The game uses 5 reels that are 4 symbols high and comes with 14 paylines.

Besides low paying card symbols and medium to high paying weapons and other items it also comes with Free Spins symbols on all reels. Which you can see as the scatter symbols. Then there are two types of wilds, normal wilds and Crew wilds, more on those Crew wilds below. Lastly there is a special Mission symbol that can also appear on all reels and triggers a special bonus.

Miami Mayhem comes with a nice big maximum payout of 15.000 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.

Features

Crew Wilds

When a Crew wild appears, it will expand to cover the entire reel when it becomes part of a winning combination.

A Crew wild reel can come with a random multiplier of between x1 and x100. When more than one of these multiplier wilds are used in a winning combination, the multipliers are added together.

Mayhem Mode

When a special Wanted symbol lands on the reels, it starts a mission.

You will get 3 re-spins and a progress bar on top of the reels. A random medium to high paying symbol is then picked and re-spins start. When you get a winning combination with the selected symbol, it will fill one spot on the progress bar, award a new symbol and resets the re-spins back to 3. A total of 5 spots can be filled on the progress bar.

When the level on top increases, Crew wilds come with bigger guaranteed multipliers. Levels 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 come with a minimum multiplier of x2, x5, x10, x15 and x25 respectively.

The feature ends when you run out of re-spins and fail the mission.

Free Spins Features

3 or more scatter symbols will trigger a free spins feature. Depending on the number of scatters that triggered the feature, you will play a different free spins feature.

• The Hit – 3 scatter symbols – 10 free spins with the same features as the base game, but a mission is always active and the levels on top don’t reset between spins. You are not awarded any re-spins during this feature, 2 or 3 scatter symbols during free spins will add 2 and 4 extra free spins respectively.

• We Split – 4 scatter symbols – 10 free spins with the same features at The Hit. But now there is also a Mayhem bar underneath each reel. When an expanding Crew wild appears on a reel, that reel will become active. And after all free spins are done, you are awarded with 1 Crew Spin. Where all active mayhem bars will hit a guaranteed Crew wild with the minimum multiplier from the progress bar. 2 or 3 scatter symbols during free spins will add 2 and 4 extra free spins respectively.

• Get Lit – 5 scatter symbols – 10 free spins with the same features as The Hit, but there are no missions, the progress bar is already filled to the maximum and one guaranteed Crew wild will always appear during each spin. You can win extra free spins during this feature.

Bonus Buy

Miami Mayhem offers several bonus buy options. For 3x the bet you can activate a 5 times higher chance of triggering the bonus. 50x the bet will guarantee you to land at least 2 Crew wilds. Also 50x the bet will guarantee a mission to trigger. For 100x the bet you can buy The Hit and for 300x the bet you can buy We Split. Get Lit isn’t available as a bonus buy.

Verdict

Let me start by saying I really love the look of this game. It really takes you to Miami during the 80’s with the graphics and colors.

Hacksaw Gaming seems to use these three types of free spins regularly these days, they did it on Rainbow Princess and Ultimate slot of America, among others. And I do like the fact that you get a better free spins feature, the more scatters you get. It rewards you for it. But that doesn’t mean the 3 scatter bonus isn’t great, all three features can award some solid wins.

Overall I think Miami Mayhem is a excellent new slot game by Hacksaw Gaming, that seem to be really on a roll these days, not only gameplay wise, but also theme wise.
