Play’n Go already released two slots with their Abyssways mechanism. Scourge of Rome and 13th Trail Hercules Abyssways. Now, just in time for Halloween they have released Static Nightmare Abyssways.
This game uses a 80’s, maybe early 90’s theme of electric machines like a walkman and a personal computer. But it seems they are haunted. It all uses these neon colors on a haunted house type of background.
You will find 6 reels which are each 3 symbols high and the game uses 729 ways instead of paylines. So symbols pay left to right, starting on reel 1, no matter where on the reels.
Besides low paying card symbols you will also find high paying electronic machines and characters. Then there are wild symbols on all reels and scatter symbols, which can also appear on all reels.
Static Nightmare Abyssways comes with a high maximum payout of 30.000 times bet and is a high volatile slot game.
Features
Expanding wilds and Expanding reels
When a scatter symbol appears on the reels all wild symbols also present will expand 1 symbol upwards. If there are no scatters on the reels, but wilds, each wild can randomly, individually expand up to 3 symbols upward.
Each time a scatter lands, reels will expand. Adding up to 6 extra symbols on top of random reels. To a maximum of 6 symbols per reel.
Free Spins Feature
3 scatter symbols will award 8 free spins.
During free spins all wilds become sticky and move to a new spot after each spin, unless they fall off the reels. If they expand, they now expand downwards.
After each spin a random number of symbols from the lower part of the reels will drop of the reels. Decreasing the number of ways. Then at the start of the new free spin an extra row of symbols is added on top, increasing the number of ways again.
Three scatter symbols during free spins will add 8 free spin, up to a maximum of 40.
Verdict
To be honest, Static Nightmare Abyssways is a lot like the earlier titles, but with some tweaks here and there.
The theme is done very well. It all looks great, a bit like Stranger Things even.
But this one does have the lowest maximum payout of all three titles. But 30.000 times bet is still a pretty big maximum payout.
Overall it’s a decent game. And if you like these Abyssways games, you will surely like this one too. But I think it could have used a little something extra to make it more enjoyable or different.
