Stormborn – Overview
Hacksaw Gaming released a new online slot game called Stormborn.
This game comes with a Norwegian mythological theme surrounding Thor’s hammer. The reels seem to be set against a snowy, dark background and, probably Thor, is standing next to the reels.
The game uses 5 reels that are 4 symbols high and comes with 14 paylines.
Besides low paying card symbols and medium to high paying Norwegian symbols, you will also find wild symbols on all reels and special bonus or scatter symbols. Then there are also coins and chests that can land.
Stormborn comes with a nice big maximum payout of 15.000 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.
Features
Thunder Respins
During the base game, if you land 5 or more coin symbols, you will trigger Thunder Respins.
During respins only coins, chests and blank spots appear. Coins and chests will stay on the reels and respins keep going until you get no more new coin or chest.
Coins reveal a random reward of between 0,5 and 500 times bet. Chests will collect all coins on the screen and can also come with a multiplier of up to x20, which applies to the total value of the coins collected.
Free Spins Features
Stormborn comes with several different free spins features. Depending if you land 3 or 4 scatter symbols, you are able to make a choice of what feature to play.
3 Scatter Trigger:
- Stormbreaker – 3 free spins where each free spin will trigger a Thunder Respins feature with at least 1 chest and 2 coins to start with.
- Perfect Storm – 10 free spins with all wild symbols landing becoming a sticky wild which remains on the reels until the end of the feature. Wild symbols can come with a random multiplier of up to x100. When a reel is filled with wilds, it turns into a wild reel, combining all multipliers of those 4 wilds. 2 or 3 scatter symbols during free spins will add 2 or 4 extra free spins respectively.
4 Scatter Trigger:
- Legacy of Lighting – the same feature as Stormbreaker but you will now get at least 1 chest and 4 coins during each Thunder Respin and you can now land a hammer symbol, which will multiply random coin values between x2 and x20.
- Hammer of the Heavens – the same feature as Perfect Storm but you can now also land a hammer symbol, which will add a random multiplier of between x2 and x20 to a random number of wilds. After the spin, the value of the wild will reset back to the original amount.
5 Scatter Trigger:
- Blessings of Bifrost (hidden bonus) – the same feature as Legacy of Lighting but you will get at least 1 chest and 5 coins and a hammer symbol and you will also receive 5 spins instead of 3
Bonus Buys
Stormborn offers several bonus buy options. For 3x the bet you can activate a 5 times higher chance of triggering the bonus. 50x the bet will guarantee you to trigger Thunder Respins with at least 1 chest and 3 coins. For 100 times bet you can buy 3 scatter symbols and for 200 times bet you are able to buy 4 scatter symbols. The 5 scatter bonus isn’t available to buy.
Verdict
Stormborn is a well-made online slot game with enough features to be able to play this game for a long time. Especially if you are like me and want to trigger all bonuses.
Of course Blessings of Bifrost being the rare one.
But it seems that all features can land that huge maximum win of 15.000 times bet, which is also a nice touch.
Hacksaw is really on a roll lately and Stormborn is another solid addition for them, definitely worth a try.
