To be honest, nothing has changed. The only difference is the theme. And that’s not even that big of a change. They added snow to the symbols and some small Christmas themed graphics.
Sugar Rush Xmas comes with a grid of 7×7 symbols. And any 5 or more of the same symbols, horizontally or vertically connected, count as a winning combination.
Winning symbols are removed and all symbols fall down into the empty spots, new symbols fall on top and you can get another win. This keeps continuing as long as you get a winning combination.
There are no wild symbols on this, but scatter symbols appear on every reel and are giant gumball machines.

Multiplier Spots Feature
When winning symbols are removed from the grid it leaves behind a yellow spot. When another winning symbol is removed from that spot, it will receive a x2 multiplier. And this will double each time the spot is used in a winning combination. Up to a maximum of 128x.
Multiplier spots will be added together when they are used in a winning combination.
These spots stay in play until no more winning combinations appear.
Free Spins Feature
3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 scatter symbols will award 10, 12, 15, 20 and 30 free spins respectively.
During free spins the Multiplier Spots will stay on the grid until the end of the free spins bonus. And can only go up in multiplier.

I do wish they were a little more inventive. Maybe even released a new game instead of another reskin. But, it is what it is.
