Hacksaw Gaming is really on a roll lately with all their new releases. And it’s time for another one, The Wildwood Curse.
The name of the game sounds like an 80’s horror movie or maybe slasher and that’s exactly what the game is. A horror themed slot game, in time for Halloween. With several creepy characters and reels set within a scary forest.
The game uses 6 reels that are each 5 symbols high and comes with 19 paylines.
Besides low paying card symbols and medium to high paying horror themed and 80’s symbols, you will also find scatter symbols and wild symbols on all reels.
The Wildwood Curse comes with a nice maximum payout of 10.000 times your bet and is a medium volatile slot game.
Features
Nightmare Respins
When one or more wild symbols appear, they become sticky and you are awarded a free re-spin. Re-spins keep going as long as new wild symbols appear, between spins wins are paid. The feature ends when no more new wild symbols appear.
Cursed Clusters
When 4 wild symbols appear in a 2×2 cluster on the reels, or because of Nightmare Re-spins, the wilds will become a Cursed Cluster. Which will reveal one of the following characters, which are also wild.
- Psycho Cluster – comes with a random multiplier of between x2 and x100 during each re-spin. The multiplier applies to any win it’s part of, when more than one Psycho Cluster is part of a win, the multipliers are added together.
- Monster Cluster – will randomly add random multipliers to normal paying symbols on the reels during each re-spin. The multipliers apply to any win they are part of and are added together when more than one multiplier is used.
- Twins Cluster – comes with a x2 multiplier that is doubled after each re-spin, up to a maximum of x1.000. The multiplier applies to any win it’s part of and if more than one Twins Cluster is used, are added together.
A maximum of 6 Cursed Clusters can appear on the reels at the same time.
Free Spins Features
The Wildwood Curse comes with three different free spins features. Depending if you land 3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols.
- 3 scatters – The Swamp Bonus – 8 free spins with an increased chance of landing wild symbols.
- 4 scatters – The Playground Bonus – 10 free spins with the same features as The Swamp, but an increased chance of landing wild symbols.
- 5 scatters – No Escape Bonus – 10 free spins with the same features as The Playground, but also a guaranteed Cursed Cluster during each spin.
Bonus Buys
The Wildwood Curse offers several bonus buy options. For 3x the bet you can activate a 5 times higher chance of triggering the bonus. 75x the bet will guarantee you to land a Cursed Cluster. For 80 times bet you can buy 3 scatter symbols and for 300 times bet you are able to buy 4 scatter symbols. The 5 scatter bonus isn’t available to buy.
Verdict
Like all of Hacksaw Gaming’s releases lately, The Wildwood Curse is an amazing slot game.
It offers a great theme, especially for upcoming Halloween. And I really like the fact that they use several different characters for the different Cursed Clusters.
Any wild landing will trigger re-spins, which also keeps the game exciting, even during base game spins.
Overall It’s another great release from Hacksaw Gaming and definitely worth a try.
