Alien Invaders – Overview
Pragmatic Play has released a new online slot game called Alien Invaders.
As the name suggests, it revolves around an alien theme, where the aliens are on their home planet during the base game, but invade earth during free spins. It’s a very colorful looking game. But also comes with a bit of an alien way of paying wins, more on that later.
The game uses 5 reels which are between 3 and 5 symbols high during each spin. It doesn’t really come with any paylines. In fact how you get winning combinations is as follows.
The bottom row of symbols is highlighted. A winning combination occurs when 3 or more of the same symbols appear on that bottom row. When this does, all reels that have the winning symbols will become active and all instances of the winning symbols on those reels will pay. A bit like a scatter pays slots, but also a little different.
Winning symbols are removed from the reels and new symbols are added on top, creating the option for more winning combinations within a same spin.
Besides low paying card symbols and high paying alien symbols, you will also find wild symbols and scatter symbols.
Alien Invaders comes with a maximum payout of 5.000 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.
Features
Wild Symbols
Wild symbols can only appear on the middle reel during the base game and on the middle three reels during free spins. A wild symbol is only active when it hits the bottom, highlighted, row. Each wild can come with a random multiplier of between x1 and x25.
Increasing Multiplier
A general multiplier is active that starts at x1. Every 10 symbols that are removed from the reels will increase the multiplier by x1. Any multipliers from used wild symbols are also added to the general multiplier. The multiplier is applied to all winning combinations and is reset back to x1 when a new spin is bought.
Free Spins Feature
3 or more scatter symbols will trigger the free spins feature. 3 scatters will award 7 free spins and any scatter beyond the initial three, will add 3 more free spins.
During free spins the general multiplier can only go up and will not reset between free spins.
Wild symbols can now have multipliers of up to x100.
Each scatter symbol that reaches the highlighted, bottom row, will add 1 more free spin.
Bonus Buy
Free spins can be bought for 64 times bet. For 400 times bet you are able to buy Super Free Spins, which come with a starting multiplier of x50.
Verdict
Alien Invaders is a bit of a weird, but fun little game.
It might not make a massive impact, but I did enjoy the game.
