The original Dead or Alive slot by NetEnt was released back in 2009. And has always been one of the best online slot games out there. No wonder NetEnt released a sequel in 2019 with Dead or Alive II, which stayed very close to the original, but added something extra and a much, much bigger maximum payout.
Now, in 2026, we have their third installment, Dead or Alive III: Wanted. Where they did make some more changes to the gameplay and added extra features, but kept the base mechanism players love, the sticky wilds during free spins. Also this third release keeps the maximum payout more in the middle of the two, but still massive.
Of course the theme is still a western theme. With wanted posters, sheriff stars and all. And with the addition of bounty hunters. It looks a bit more realistic on this version.

Wanted Wilds and Bounty Hunter Wilds
Like I mentioned there are two different wild symbols, Wanted Wilds and Bounty Hunter Wilds. Both can appear in both the base game and during free spins.
Wanted wilds are single wild symbols that come with a random multiplier of between x2 and x100. While Bounty Hunter wilds will cover the entire reel they land on and will then collect all multipliers from all Wanted wilds on the reels and adds them together. When two or more Bounty Hunter Wilds appear, the most left one will collect all multipliers from any Wanted wilds, whole the others will collect all multipliers from Wanted wilds and other Bounty Hunter wilds and adds them together.
Free Spins Features
3 or more scatters and or combination of scatters and super scatters will award 10 free spins.
If exactly 2 scatter symbols land, you are awarded a free re-spin where a third can land.
Any Wanted wild symbols from the base spins will be carried over to the free spins and become sticky wilds. Any new Wanted wild that lands during free spins will also become a sticky wild.

Verdict
Dead or Alive and Dead or Alive II are still some of my favorite online slot games. And I couldn’t even believe the original is already 17 years old. It still is an amazing game to play.
Now with this third game, I guess I have another favorite, because NetEnt did an amazing job in my opinion. It’s probably the most different one in the series. But I’m happy they kept what made the game so cool, those sticky wilds during free spins. Now with multipliers, a bit like on the second installment. And the added Bounty Hunter Wilds.
When this games goes off, it really goes off!
I could see that some players might enjoy the earlier two titles a bit more, because those game are a bit more of a “standard” setup. But I also think this version will be a huge hit and I can’t wait to see all the big win screenshots and videos.
For me the original Dead or Alive still holds the most nostalgia. But I am very happy NetEnt is keeping this game very much alive. And treats the game title with a lot of respect.
