Of course this game revolves around Hades, the Greek God of the underworld and dead. Accompanied by his three headed dog Cerberus.
The game uses 6 reels that are each 6 symbols high and comes with scatter pays instead of paylines. 5 or more of the same symbols that are horizontally and/or vertically connected, count as a winning combination. Winning combinations are removed from the reels and all remaining symbols fall down into the empty spots, while new symbols are added on top. This can keep giving continues wins within the same spin.
Besides low paying gem symbols there are also high paying item symbols. There are also scatter and wild symbols on all reels.

Features
Wild Multipliers
Wild symbols come with random multipliers of between x1 and x100. They can appear normally because of a spin or tumble, but also can be randomly added to the reels by Hades.
During the base game, any wild that hits, there multiplier is collected above the reel. Every winning cluster is multiplied by the sum of all multipliers on top of the reels that had winning symbols on them, part of the winning cluster. At the end of all winning combinations from a spin, in the base game, the multipliers are removed from above the reels before the next spin.
Free Spins Feature
3, 4, 5 and 6 or more scatter symbols will award 10, 12, 15 and 20 free spins respectively.
During free spins all collected multipliers from wild symbols will stay above the reels until the end of the feature and can only increase. During free spins, wild symbols can have a multiplier of between x1 and x500.
If 6 or more scatter symbols triggered the free spins feature, you are awarded with Super Free Spins, which play the same, but wilds will always have a minimum multiplier of x10.
3, 4, 5 and 6 or more scatter symbols during free spins will add 5, 7, 10 and 12 additional free spins respectively.

For 100 times your bet you can buy the free spins feature. For 500 times the bet you can buy the Super free spins feature.
Verdict
If you are a little familiar with these cluster pays slot by Pragmatic Play, you will see the resemblance to earlier titles. But Gates of Hades makes sure it stands on it’s own.
