Ghost Booster – Overview
Play’n GO released a new online slot game called Ghost Booster. The game takes players to a haunted mansion filled with ghosts, coins and prizes. At the center of the game is Wispy, a friendly ghost who collects coins and helps activate some of the game’s bonus features.
The main focus of the game is on Coin symbols, Collectors and the Hold & Spin feature, with the GO Guaranteed meter adding an extra layer to the gameplay.
You will find a colorful haunted mansion theme in Ghost Booster. Wispy the ghost is watching over the reels, with coins, spooky symbols and ghostly characters appearing across the game. Ideal for the Halloween season coming up.
The game uses 5 reels which are each 4 symbols high and uses 20 paylines.
For symbols you will find low paying card symbols and higher paying spooky themed symbols. There are also Wild symbols, Coin symbols and Collector symbols. All normal paying symbols and wild symbols can appear stacked on all reels.
Ghost Booster comes with a maximum payout of 5.000x the bet and has medium volatility.
Features
Coin Symbols
Coin symbols are one of the most important parts of Ghost Booster. These symbols can appear on the reels with a cash value attached to them.
The Coin symbols can pay their displayed value directly is a Collector symbol lands on reel 5.
GO Guaranteed Meter
One of the main features in Ghost Booster is the GO Guaranteed meter, which is displayed above the reels during the base game.
When Collector symbols land without Coin symbols alongside them, the meter can increase. Every two Collectors collected raises the meter by one level.
There are five levels in total and each level increases the minimum amount that the next Hold & Spin feature can pay.
The meter can eventually guarantee a minimum prize of up to 100x the bet. If the Hold & Spin feature pays less than the amount shown on the meter, the prize is increased to the guaranteed value.
After the Hold & Spin feature, the meter resets and you can start building it again.
Wheel of Spooks
If coins land, but not enough to trigger the Hold & Spin feature, Wispy can randomly activate the Wheel of Spooks during the base game.
When the Wheel of Spooks is triggered, the wheel awards one of four different instant prizes.
The four prizes are:
Mini – 10x the bet
Minor – 25x the bet
Major – 100x the bet
Grand – 1.000x the bet
Hold & Spin
Landing 6 or more Coin symbols during a spin will trigger the Hold & Spin feature.
The feature starts with 3 respins. The Coin symbols that landed remain locked on the reels while the remaining positions are respun.
Whenever a new Coin or Collector symbol lands, the respin counter is reset back to 3.
Collectors can collect the values of Coins that are visible on the reels, while the feature continues until you run out of respins or fill the entire grid.
If all positions are filled, you also receive an additional 250x the bet.
At the end of the feature, the total Coin value is calculated and the GO Guaranteed meter is checked. If the collected amount is below the guaranteed amount shown on the meter, the payout is increased to that guaranteed value.
Verdict
Ghost Booster is a quite simple slot game to be honest.
It’s just a Hold & Spin game with a guaranteed win meter and a random jackpot wheel. And that’s honestly it.
Overall it’s a bit of a boring game. I know it comes with that guaranteed meter, but that has a maximum of 100x bet. Which isn’t some huge number to fair. And for the rest it’s just a ghost themed slot with a very basic Hold & Spin feature.
The theme is nicely done and works well in October. But for me, the theme doesn’t safe the game from being very basic.
