Shields of Lambda Overview
It’s been a while since I reviewed a new Quickspin slot. Not sure if I missed some titles, or if they haven’t released anything the last months? I’m guessing the former.
Well now it’s time for a very cool looking game called Shields of Lambda.
The game features an ancient Greek theme where you will visit the ferryman to take you to the land of the dead, when you trigger the bonus game. The reels are set within a skull covered temple, slightly tilted, with two huge statues besides it. A very cool, but also bit of a creepy look.
You will find 5 reels that are each 5 symbols high and the game uses cluster pays. 5 or more of the same symbols, vertically and/or horizontally connected, count as a winning combination.
Besides low paying card symbols you will also find high paying animal heads. Then there are also wild symbols and bonus symbols. Appearing on all reels.
Shields of Lambda comes with a pretty big maximum payout of 9.926 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.
Features
Colossal wilds
On any non-winning spin a random colossal wild symbol can be added to the reels. This symbol is 4×4 symbols big and will always guarantee a win.
Lambda Symbols
Beneath the symbols random Lambda symbols are placed in certain spots.
If a winning combination appears above these symbols, these lambda symbols will be collected into a meter on top of the reels.
During the base game you must collect 70 lambda symbols to trigger the Unity Feature. During free spins only 20 Lambda symbols are needed to trigger the Unity Feature.
Unity Feature
When you filled the meter on top, you will trigger Unity.
One random low paying symbol will fill the entire grid and now symbols also become tumbling. Meaning the winning symbols are removed and new symbols fall into the reels.
This keeps happening until no more winning symbols appear. Lambda meter is still filled during Unity.
Ferryman’s Free Spins Feature
3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols will award 10, 15 and 20 free spins respectively. You are able to gamble your free spins for more, but this might also mean you lose all free spins.
During free spins the Lambda Meter is filled after 20 symbols, instead of 70.
When triggering Unity during free spins a multiplier will become active, which starts at x1 and is increased by x1 after each winning tumble. If Unity is triggered again during Unity, the multiplier won’t reset. If Unity is done, the next time you might trigger Unity, you will start with x1 again.
Free spins can be retriggered.
Buy Bonus
Some casinos will offer the option to buy the free spins feature for 70 times bet.
Verdict
To be honest, the first time I started this game, I was a bit confused. I didn’t really understand the features. But it became clear pretty fast.
The game looks amazing, not only the base game, but also the Ferryman’s Free Spins. But that’s no surprise for a Quickspin slot.
The features also work very well. The Lambda symbols seem to be collected pretty fast and that Unity feature is a nice touch during normal spins. But during free spins they become even better, since you can accumulate a big multiplier.
Overall I’m very happy with this game. It looks amazing, comes with cool features and also has a big maximum payout and bonus buy option.
