Novomatic has released a new online slot game called Canyon Cart Bonanza – Hold & Win.
It’s one of those 3-pot slot games with a mining theme. Nothing new there. But this game does come with very nice bonus features that combine really well. And it comes with a very big maximum win amount.
Like I mentioned, it uses one of those mining themes. So a Grand Canyon background and mining carts above the reels. To be honest a pretty basic theme.
The game uses 5 reels which are each 3 symbols high and comes with 243 ways instead of paylines.
Besides low paying card symbols and medium to high paying “mining” themed symbols, you will also find wild symbols. All these symbols can appear stacked on all reels. Features
Hold & Spin
Each time a colored gem lands, it is collected by the corresponding cart on top of the reels. At random one or more of these features can trigger when its corresponding token is collected. Each of these features will award re-spins where only blank spots and coins with cash values or jackpots appear. All coins are held until the end of the feature and spins are reset, each time a new coin lands.
On the bottom you will find an extra row of symbols. Here TNT symbols can land. When one of those symbols lands, it will open up an extra row of symbols on the corresponding reel. This can happen 4 times one the same reel, to open the entire reel. These symbols don’t count as a reset of the spins when they land.
The active cart determines which extra modifiers are active.
- Blue – Unlock – Will unlock an extra row of spots before re-spins start. Each extra active feature will open up an extra row.
- Green – Spins – Will award 4 re-spins instead of the standard 3 re-spins. Will also reset back to 4 each time a new coin lands.
- Yellow – Boost – Pickaxes can now also appear on the bottom, special row. This will add cash values to all coins on that same reel, or double all values of all coins on the same reel. These symbols don’t count as a reset of the spins and only apply to coins with cash values and not any jackpot coins.
Feature ends when you run out of spins or fill the entire reels with symbols.

Verdict
Canyon Cart Bonanza is nothing new. It’s one of those games that we have seen a lot of times before.
A basic 243 ways slot with stacked symbols and a 3-pot mechanism with a Hold & Spin feature. The nice part are those TNT and pickaxe symbols that add more symbols and increase the rewards. But that is also something I have seen before.
What is impressive it the maximum win of 40.000 times bet. This is huge and especially for a Novomatic slot game. So that might be a reason to give this game a try.
