Santa Hopper – Overview
Push Gaming seems to be the first provider releasing a Christmas themed slot game with their Santa Hopper title.
A game with a very cartoon-like Christmas theme. With baubles, socks, Santa and chimneys.
The game uses 7 reels which are each 7 symbols high and comes with a cluster pays mechanism. 5 or more of the same symbols, that are horizontally and/or vertically connected, count as a winning combination.
It also features tumbling reels. So winning combinations are removed and new symbols fall on top, creating the possibility for several winning combinations within the same spin.
Besides low paying baubles and medium to high paying Christmas items, you will also find wild symbols on all reels in the form of a Santa. There are also Chimney symbols, these are special symbols, more on those below.
Lastly there can also appear coins that come with a cash value of between x2 and x1.000 times bet. These also pay when you have 5 or more in a winning cluster. But they pay the combined values of the values on the coins.
Santa Hopper comes with a nice big maximum payout of 10.231 times your bet and is a medium to high volatile slot game.
Features
Santa Feature
Whenever a Santa and one or more Chimney symbols appear during a spin, the Santa Feature is triggered.
The Santa, which is wild, starts with a random multiplier of x1, x2, x3, x4, x5 or x10.
The symbol will hop to each Chimney on the reels and make that chimney wild with the current multiplier plus x1.
If more than one multiplier wild is used in a winning cluster, the multipliers are added together. These are also active on coin symbols.
Jingle Drop
When no wins occur it is possible to trigger the Jingle Drop at random. one or two mystery symbols that are 2×2, 3×3 and/or 4×4 symbols big will land on the reels and reveal one and the same symbols. These can be normal symbols, coins, but also Santa’s or scatter symbols.
Free Spins Feature
3 scatter symbols will award 6 free spins. Any extra scatter symbol will add 3 more free spins.
Any Chimney and Santa already on the reels is transferred over to the bonus.
During the bonus only Chimneys, Coins, Extra Spins and blank spots appear and a Santa is always present on the reels.
There are also floating numbers, which when they land on multiplier wilds or coins, will add their value to that symbol.
After all spins are done, any clusters will pay.
Bonus Buy
You have several options to instantly buy. For 20 times bet you can buy a Jingle Drop and for 75 times bet you can buy a Jingle Drop with guaranteed winning coins cluster. For 100 times your bet you are able to buy free spins with a minimum of 3 scatter symbols. And for 350 times your bet you are able to buy free spins with guaranteed Chimneys.
Verdict
Santa Hopper is not really a new game. Push Gaming already has a couple of titles that use this “Hopper” mechanism. But it’s a fun feature and works well.
Of course now in a very cute looking Christmas theme.
I really like the features with the multiplier wilds and the hopping wild. Including the instant cash prizes with the coins. And especially during free spins all these symbols can get some big numbers.
