Rise of Orpheus – Overview
Play’n Go loves slots with an ancient Greek, Roman or Egyptian theme. Because these themes just work very well for any slot game. So no wonder the latest slot game release by Play’n Go, Rise of Orpheus, comes with a Greek mythology theme.
The theme revolves around Orpheus, the son of Apollo, that visits the underworld to try and get back his love, Eurydice. But with most of these ancient mythologies, it doesn’t end very well.
The reels are set against the underworld, which makes for a very nice looking background.
It uses 5 reels which are each 4 symbols high and comes with 20 paylines.
Besides low paying suit symbols you will also find high paying mythological items and characters. Then there are two types of wilds, Orpheus and Eurydice. And lastly the three-headed dog protecting the underworld acts as the scatter symbol.
Rise of Orpheus comes with a maximum payout of 3.000 times your bet and is a medium to high volatile slot game.
Features
Eurydice Wild
During any spin there can be one Eurydice wild symbols. In the base game this wild symbol comes with a x2 multiplier and all wins, even ones without the wild, will be multiplied by x2 as long as this symbol in on the reels.
Reunion Feature
During any spin there can be one Orpheus wild on the reels. When a Orpheus and Eurydice are on the reels at the same time, Orpheus will walk over the reels to Eurydice and might leave behind wild symbols on the spots it passes. After this both wilds will combine into one.
Free Spins Feature
3 scatter symbols will award 6 free spins.
Free spins come with 4 different levels and you start at level 1. Each time you reach a new level you are awarded with 2 extra free spins.
During each spin an Orpheus wild is present on the reels and will move to a new spot after each spin.
If Orpheus reaches the leftmost reel at the end of a spin, you will move to the next level.
Each time the Reunion takes place during free spins, it will add one spot to the meter. Each time you fill the meter you will get an extra free spin.
Verdict
I mean, the theme looks very nice and works very well.
The gameplay is fine. It’s nothing really exciting, but it does work and is enjoyable. But somehow the maximum payout of 3.000 times bet, does keep it a bit reserved.
All these features are things that have been done before. And also seem a bit more interesting than what they actually are.
Overall, I like the game, but for me, it’s also one that I probably won’t remember in a month’s time.
