Shadow Gods – Overview
Realtime Gaming has been releasing new slots a lot more often these days. And here is another one called Shadow Gods.
The game comes with an ancient Egyptian theme and a dark atmosphere. You will find pyramids in the background, a temple entrance behind the reels and the Egyptian gods Horus and Anubis taking center stage.
The game uses 5 reels which are each 3 symbols high and comes with 50 paylines.
You will find low paying card symbols and medium to high paying Egyptian symbols, including scarabs, cobras and Cleopatra. There are also special Wild symbols, Egyptian Mask scatters and Eye of Ra coins.
Shadow Gods comes with a very low maximum payout of 1.000 times bet and has medium volatility.
Features
Nudging Wilds
Wild symbols appear stacked on reels 2 and 4.
Whenever one or both of these Wilds land, they will always nudge to cover the entire reel.
Free Spins
Land 3 or more Egyptian Mask scatter symbols during base spins and you will trigger the Free Spins feature.
You will get to choose between two different free spins modes, each offering 6 free spins.
- Wild Reels
Both reel 2 and 4 will stay wild during all the free spins.
- Treasure Spins
Reel 5 will always show Eye of Ra coins, increasing the chance to trigger the Coin Feature.
Both features can award 6 extra free spins when 3 or more scatter symbols appear.
Coin Feature
Land 6 or more Eye of Ra coins during base spins and you will trigger the Coin Feature.
You will be awarded with 3 re-spins where the triggering coins stay on the reels. Only new coins and empty spots can land. Each time a new coin lands, the re-spins are reset back to 3.
The feature ends when you run out of re-spins or fill the entire reels. Fill all 15 positions and you can win the Maxi jackpot worth 250x bet.
Verdict
To be honest, Shadow Gods is a fairly basic slot game. The Egyptian theme is nothing new, and the game doesn’t offer anything particularly revolutionary.
It’s a fairly standard slot game with free spins, nudging Wild symbols and a classic Hold & Spin feature.
I like the dark Egyptian theme, and the nudging Wilds on reels 2 and 4 are a nice touch. The two different free spins modes also add some variety to the gameplay. The Coin Feature is another welcome addition, although the overall game feels a bit familiar.
The main downside is the maximum payout of 1.000 times bet, which is not particularly impressive these days and should have been a lot higher to make the game interesting.
Overall, Shadow Gods isn’t really a great title except for the look of the game. It probably won’t impress players looking for something truly unique or big win possibilities.
