Sun Princess – Overview
In August Hacksaw Gaming released a slot game called Rainbow Princess. Well now it’s time for the Sun Princess. With a new game with that name.
This is a beautiful looking slot game, a bit in an anime style, with a golden princess next to the reels. And a lot of golden all around.
The game uses 7 reels that are 7 symbols high and comes with a cluster pays mechanism. 5 or more of the same symbols, that are horizontally and/or vertically connected, count as a winning combination.
Besides low paying small gem type symbols you also have high paying bigger gems or icons. Then there are scatter symbols, which is the Sun Princess and can appear on all reels. Lastly there are also wild symbols that can appear anywhere.
Sun Princess comes with a nice big maximum payout of 10.000 times your bet and is a medium volatile slot game.
Features
Sun Ray Frames
During any spin, at random, a Sun Ray Frame might be placed over a normal paying symbol.
This symbol will activate after all normal wins are done. It will spread in a horizontal, vertical or both directions line and turn all those symbols into the symbol the frame landed on.
If a Sun Ray moves over a wild symbol, it will become a wild with a x2 multiplier and each new Sun Ray that moves over it will increase the multiplier by x2.
After this the cluster is paid. Only one frame can land during a spin.
Chain Reactions
If a Sun Ray expands over a matching symbol or a wild symbol it will trigger a chain reaction, adding a new Sun Ray Frame on that symbols, which will then spread again. This can keep happening until the entire grid is filled.
Free Spins Features
3 or more scatter symbols will trigger a free spins feature. Depending on the number of scatters that triggered the feature, you will play a different free spins feature.
- Solaris Grove – 3 scatter symbols – 10 free spins with a higher chance of Sun Ray Frames landing – 2 or 3 scatters during free spins will add 2 and 4 extra free spins.
- Sunfire Palace – 4 scatter symbols – 10 free spins with the same features as Solaris Grove, but all multiplier wilds will become sticky and stay on the reels until the end of the feature (normal wilds don’t stick) – 2 or 3 scatters during free spins will add 2 and 4 extra free spins.
- Golden Eclipse – 5 scatter symbols – 10 free spins with the same features as Sunfire Palace, but also a guaranteed Sun Ray Frame during each spin.
Bonus Buy
Sun Princess offers several bonus buy options. For 2x the bet you can activate a 3 times higher chance of triggering the bonus. 50x the bet will guarantee you to land a Sun Ray Frame. For 80x the bet you can buy Solaris Grove and for 200x the bet you can buy Sunfire Palace. Golden Eclipse isn’t available as a bonus buy.
Verdict
Hacksaw Gaming added another amazing looking slot game. I love how it all looks, just as I loved their Rainbow Princess game, but also Aiko and the Wind Spirit. These anime type styles just work for me.
Sun Princess is a great game. The frames is what makes this game and it can reward some amazing winning clusters, especially when they just keep going during a chain reaction. Add those multiplier wilds and you can get some huge wins in a single spin.
Of course they kept the three different free spins features, which a lot of their games seem to use these days. And I like that a lot.
Overall Sun Princess is a beautiful looking game with a lot of fun mechanisms and big win potential.
