Chests of Cai Shen 2 – Overview
Around the same time last year Pragmatic Play released a slot game called Chests of Cai Shen, revolving around the Chinese God of Wealth. Now a year later we get a sequel, Chests of Cai Shen 2.
The game almost looks identical, which is a bit confusing. And a lot of the main mechanics are the same. Only the Free Spins, or Hold & Re-spins features are somewhat different and the game comes with a bigger maximum payout.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 3 symbols high and uses 25 paylines.
Besides low paying card symbols you will also find medium to high paying animals and Cai Shen as the highest paying symbols. Then there are wild symbols on all reels, except the first reel. And lastly we have three different colored coins, more on those below.
Chests of Cai Shen 2 comes with a nice maximum payout of 15.000 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.
Features
Coins
During the base game three different color coins can appear on all reels. This can be a Blue, Red and Purple coin. And here is what they do:
- Blue – are collected in the green Fulfillment chest above the reels. When collected it can also randomly activate Chest Re-spin Feature. The reels are split into 4 sections and each section gets a multiplier of up to x100. If a section is filled with coins, all values are multiplied by the multiplier.
- Red – are collected in the red Double chest above the reels. When collected it can also randomly activate the Chest Re-spin Feature where you now play on two reel sets instead of one.
- Purple – are collected in the purple Longevity chest above the reels. When collected it can also randomly activate the Chest Re-spin Feature with one extra re-spin, so instead of 3 you get 4 re-spins.
Chest Re-spin Feature
When coins are collected, they can randomly activate the Chest Re-spins Feature. It can trigger with one, two or all three modifiers active, as explained above,
During these re-spins only blank spots or golden coins appear. You start with 3 or 4 re-spins that will reset back when one or more coins appear.
The feature ends when all spots are filled or when you run out of re-spins. There are also 4 different jackpot amounts of 10x, 20x, 150x or 5.000x bet available during this feature.
Bonus Buy
You are also able to buy the bonus for 100 times bet, which will award at least one active color.
For 500 times bet, you buy the blue bonus with 1 section having at least the x100 multiplier. This bonus buy can also activate 1 or 2 extra colors.
Verdict
This sequel is pretty much the same game, except for the Fulfillment bonus part. That’s new, with the sections and multipliers.
But that’s pretty much it. The game looks almost identical and offers all the same mechanisms as before.
For me, this game is way to similar to the original. I’m not sure why they didn’t add something more different or extra? But that’s just me.
