Fire Toad 2 – Overview
Back in 2021 Play’n Go released a rather unassuming game called Fire Toad. Now 4 years later they have given this game a sequel with Fire Toad 2.
The game uses pretty much the same theme. Revolving around toads on a pond.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 4 symbols high and uses 1024 ways instead of paylines.
Besides low paying suit symbols you will also find medium and high paying different stages of a toad on a lily pad. The game also features wild/scatter symbols, which is a firefly and can appear on all reels.
Fire Toad 2 comes with a maximum payout of 5.300 times your bet and is a low to medium to high volatile slot game.
Features
Toad Upgrade
Above the reels you will find a wheel with different toad symbols. When exactly 2 scatter symbols appear, the Toad Upgrade is triggered.
All toad symbols (symbols on a lily pad) on the reels that are lower than the selected symbol, will be upgraded to that symbol.
Golden Lily Pad
On reel 3, up to 4 golden lily pads may randomly appear. Any toad symbol on that reel landing on a lily pad is split into two symbols.
Free Spins Features
3 or more scatter symbols anywhere will trigger the free spins feature. You can pick between 2 different features.
- Normal – 3, 4 or 5 scatters award 9, 12 and 15 free spins respectively. The upgrade trail starts on level 1, can go up to level 4, and starts with all different toad symbols on the reels.
- High Volatile – 3, 4 or 5 scatters award 5, 6 and 7 free spins respectively. The upgrade trail starts on level 4 and begins with only the highest paying toad symbol on the reels.
During free spins Golden Lily Pads are always active.
3, 4 or 4 scatter symbols during free spins will add 3, 4 and 5 more free spins. Any retrigger will upgrade the lowest toad symbol into one higher.
Inferno Spins
During both free spins features, you ca get special inferno scatters, these are fireflies with a slightly different color. These are collected when they appear, but work the same way as nomal firefly symbols. When you manage to collect 5 of them during free spins, once normal free spins are complete. you will trigger Inferno Spins.
You will get 3 free spins with only the toad symbol that you are currently on and blank spots. Each toad is held and once all three spins are over, you are paid. The Golden Lily Pad is also active during these spins.
Verdict
I did not expect Fire Toad to get a sequel. To be honest, I don’t think the original game was very popular.
This sequel uses a lot of the same mechanisms, but does add those two types of free spins and those Inferno Spins. Which does make the game more interesting.
The maximum payout remains pretty much the same, which I feel could have been increased a lot for this sequel.
Overall it’s a fun little game that some players will enjoy. But it’s nothing really special in the end.
