Of course, with Easter coming up, providers are going to release Easter themed slot game. And so did NetEnt with their new game Golden Egg Invaders.
I say Easter, but in reality it’s more of a farm animal theme, mixed with an alien spaceship. Just one of those funny themed. But since they are releasing it just in time for Easter, I think we can consider this more of an Easter themed slot game.
The game comes with different reels than normal. The reels are 3, 4, 5, 4, 3 symbols high and comes with 20 paylines. The game features special wild symbols and scatter symbols appear on reels 2, 3 and 4.
Besides low paying card symbols and medium to high paying farm yard symbols, you will also find scatter symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4. Wild symbols and special egg symbols also appear, more on those below.
Golden Egg Invaders comes with a low maximum payout of 1.259 times bet and is a high volatile slot game.
Features
Frame Collection
Whenever am Egg appears anywhere on the reels the outline of that spot is marked with a golden frame.
At random an Egg can become a golden egg. That frame will become wild during the next spin. The wild will also spread and all adjacent golden frames and golden frames adjacent to that, will also become wild.
Increasing Multiplier
On the top left of the reels you will find an alien spaceship which acts as a special meter which can fill up to 200. Each egg symbol that appears will be collected and will award between 1 and 4 increments on this meter.
When this meter is full the multiplier on the right will increase.
The multiplier will increase in the following steps, x1, x2, x3, x5, x7 and lastly x10.
This multiplier isn’t active during normal spins, but will become active during the free spins feature.
Free spins Feature
If you get all three scatter symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 you will trigger the free spins feature.
All frames that are still active when you trigger the free spins will become golden eggs with a value of awarding between 0,5 and 50 times your bet.
You will receive 3 free spins. Only eggs and blank spots appear during these free spins. And each time one or more of these eggs appear, the spins are reset to 3.
The feature end when no more free spins are left or when you fill the entire screen with eggs. If you manage to fill the entire screen, all values are multiplied by x2.
And after this the total winnings are multiplied with the multiplier you collected so far during normal play.
Buy Bonus
For 25 times your bet you are able to buy the free spins feature with your current multiplier. For 75 times bet you will trigger free spins with a random multiplier of up to x10.
Verdict
If you are familiar with NetEnt slot games, you will recognize this slot. It’s pretty much an exact copy of Rome The Golden Age. But they made some small changes.
First the maximum payout, which is massively decreased from the original. That one goes up to a massive 100.000 times bet. This one only goes up to just over 1.000 times bet. This is because the multiplier can only go up to 10 now and not 1.000. I have no idea why they changed this and why this game comes with such a low maximum payout, it’s a shame to be honest.
Secondly you now have the option to buy free spins, which some players will enjoy a lot.
Of course we see that a lot, a copy of an earlier slot game for one of the Holidays, and Golden Egg Invaders is no different. I do wish however they would have kept that massive maximum win, what made the original interesting in the first place. Now Golden Egg Invaders just feels like a cheap filler game, just to have a release in time for Easter.
