Pragmatic Play together with Reel Kingdom have released a new online slot game featuring one of man’s best friends: the Golden Retriever.
The reels are set against the countryside, with blue skies and a green field. And a Golden Retriever as the main character.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 3 symbols high and comes 10 paylines.
Besides low paying card symbols you will also find medium to high paying dog related symbols. Then we have dog bowls with cash values, that can appear on all reels, but only become active during free spins. And lastly scatter symbols, which can also appear on all reels.
Golden Retriever comes with a maximum payout of 5.000 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.
Features
Getting 3 or more scatter symbols will trigger the bonus. If you get 2 scatters, there is a chance that 1 or 2 more are added randomly.
A wheel will spin to land on one of two different features.
Free Spins Feature
3, 4 or 5 scatters symbols will award 10, 15 and 20 free spins respectively.
During free spins, wild symbols can appear. These wilds collect the values of each Money symbol on the reels.
Every fourth wild symbol collected will trigger 10 more Free Spins with an increases multiplier. The first, second and third retrigger come with x2, x5 and x10 multipliers respectively.
The new series of spins are played after the current one is done. And the first spin will award a special one-time spin with an added bonus:
- Win Fetch – Changes all symbols on a random payline into the same paying symbol.
- Can’t Lick It – Changes a random number of symbols into copies of another random paying symbol.
- Can You Dig It – Turns random symbols into three Money symbols each.
After the third retrigger, no additional spins can be won.
Hold & Spin
3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols can also award a Hold & Spin feature with starting multipliers of x1, x3 or x10 respectively.
Only blank spots and coin symbols appear with values of between 0,4 and 10x bet.
Each time a new coin lands, the spins are reset back to 3.
When you fill the reels with coins you trigger the next stage with a higher multiplier.
Feature ends when you run out of spins, or when you have played all stages.
Bonus Buy
For 120x bet you can buy a minimum of 3 scatter symbols. For 500x bet you can buy a minimum of 4 scatter symbols.
Verdict
Golden Retriever uses a lot of inspiration from the Big Bass slot games. The Free spins feature uses the exact same mechanisms. But they have added those one time bonuses between levels. And of course also added a Hold & Spin feature.
The theme is nicely done and I think the Golden Retriever theme is something new and works well.
But overall it’s a game that uses features that have been done to death by now. So if you are not a fan of those mechanisms, this slot game isn’t for you.
