Blade & Fangs Overview
Well here’s my first new slot review for 2024 and it’s a game from Pragmatic Play called Blade & Fangs.
The game, as you might have guessed, uses a dark, horror theme. Where you will find Bats, Snakes, Werewolves, Zombies and more. Where the reels are set in some sort of abandoned church with skulls all over the floor. Would have fit perfectly for Halloween, but January is fine too.
The game uses two sets of slots, both have 5 reels that are 3 symbols high. Giving each slot 243 ways. Meaning that winning combinations pay from left to right, starting with reel 1, no matter where on the reels.
Besides low paying card symbols and medium and high paying symbols which feature all monsters, you can also find scatter symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 on each slot. There are no wild symbols on this game.
Blade & Fangs comes with the standard maximum payout of 5.000 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.

Multipliers
The top slot features a +1 multiplier symbol on reel 1. And the bottom slot features a +2 multiplier symbol on reels 5.
When both symbols land at the same time, both slots will merge together into one slot game, which has 5 reels that are each 6 symbols high and will now have 45.565 ways.
You will now receive a free respin with a x2 multiplier. If the +1 multiplier symbol hits, the multiplier will go up by x1. If the +2 multiplier symbol hits, the multiplier will go up by x2.
All wins during a respin are multiplied by the total multiplier. After this the game resets back to the normal 2 separate slot games.
Free Spins Feature
3 or more scatter symbols anywhere on both slot games will trigger 8 free spins.
During free spins the slots are merged together and a general multiplier of x1 is active. Each +1 or +2 multiplier symbol appearing during free spins will increase the general multiplier, just like above. There are no respins during free spins.
3 or more scatter symbols during free spins will add 4 more free spins.
Bonus Buy
Some casinos will offer the option to buy the free spins feature for 100 times your bet.
Verdict
It really feels as if this game should have been released around Halloween, but they saved it. For me a monster, or horror theme doesn’t fit that well in Januari.
And overall the theme is a bit bland. As is the base game. Sure you can get those 2 multiplier symbols to trigger a respin, but the multiplier doesn’t seem to go high enough to really award some good wins.
This is different in the free spins where the multiplier doesn’t reset, here it can go up a lot higher, giving more possibilities for some nice wins.
Overall it’s a fine game that I’m sure will attract some players. But I do wish the first release of 2024 would have packed a bit more punch.
