Pragmatic Play keeps releasing new slot games on a very regular basis. Which is great, because they are a great software provider.
Now Pragmatic Play has released Day of Dead.
Day of Dead comes with 5 reels, each 4 symbols high and uses 20 lines. The game uses, as the name implies, a Day of the Dead theme.
All symbols appear stacked on all reels and consist of standard card symbols, musical instruments and day of the death characters. The game also features special wild symbols on all reels and bonus symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5.
Walking Wild Symbols
When a special wild symbols, a tombstone, lands on the reels it will expand.
After this you will get free re-spins where after each spin the wild will walk one reel to the left.
New special wild symbols might appear during these re-spins. Re-spins will continue until no more expanded wild symbols appear on the reels.
Free Spins Re-spins
Collect all three bonus symbols at the same time to trigger the free spins feature.
There is no specific number of free spins during this bonus.
During free spins an added special symbol is added, which is collected on top of the reels when appearing.
You start with 2 of these symbols and at least one will be added to the reels and will become an expanded walking wild.
These wilds will be added to the reels at random or when no more walking wilds appear on the reels.
The feature ends when you have no more special collected symbols and no more walking wild symbols on the reels.
We recently saw a similar themed slot game from Play’n Go, Muerto en Mictlán. Of course we are near Halloween, so that’s why this theme might be popular now.
I think the Play’n Go one did it a little better, but Day of Dead is also OK. It’s colorful and looks fine.
The walking wilds are fun and also the free spins feature is a good bonus feature. But overall the game does feel a bit underwhelming for me. It doesn’t really excite me for some reason.
This isn’t to say this is a bad game, but for me personally, I think it needed a little more.
