Rainbow Reels Overview
Pragmatic Play already released a couple of games with this Irish leprechaun theme, including Rainbow Gold. And now they have released another game called Rainbow Reels.
It comes with everything you expect from an Irish themed slot. A leprechaun, a lot of green and of course also rainbows.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 4 symbols high and comes with 40 lines.
Besides low paying card symbols you will also find different Irish themed symbols. There are also scatter symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5 and you will find wild symbols on all reels.
Rainbow Reels comes with a maximum payout of 5.000 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.
Rainbow Reels Features
This game offers a bit of a strange feature. Because the game comes with layers. Each spot on the reels has up to 7 layers. Each time a winning combination appears, the winning symbols are removed to reveal the symbol on the next layer. Which is just another random symbol. This will keep happening until you reached the 7th layer. After this a blank spot will appear.
It does seem that the further the layers, the better the symbols, but the paytable doesn’t mention it.
Free Spins Feature
3 or more scatter symbols will award 12 free spins.
Free spins also use the same 7 layers as the base game. But the last layer will always be a wild symbol.
This wild symbol will come with a random number of between 3 and 13. Which will be the number of times the wild will stay on the reels until it completely disappears and will also become a blank spot, like normal.
3 or more scatter symbols during free spins will add 6 more free spins.
Some casinos will offer the option to buy the free spins feature for 100 times your bet.
I’m not sure about this game. The theme is overdone, way overdone. We’ve seen so many Irish themed games already and they all look and feel the same somehow. Please pick some new, fresh themes.
Then the gameplay. The layers is a strange mechanism. It’s unique and something I haven’t seen before. But it’s also a bit confusing. There doesn’t seem to be any logic to it. It just reveals a random symbol underneath. Except for the free spins where the last level are wilds, which become sticky for at least 3 spins and maybe even to 12 free spins. That’s a cool feature and can award some great wins when you manage to reach that last layer.
But I think, because the features are a bit strange, it will turn players away. But that’s maybe just me.
Overall it’s fun to try and really unique. But it’s also a game I won’t remember in one or two months, mainly because of the very generic theme.
