I just found out that 2024 is the year of the dragon according to the Chinese zodiacs. So it’s no wonder that providers are using this theme for their games. And here is one from Pragmatic Play, simply called Year of the Dragon King.
The game uses all the standard Asian theming and symbols and is a pretty basic looking game in my opinion.
You will find 5 reels that are 3 symbols high and comes with 20 lines.
Besides low paying card symbols there are all sorts of Asian themed symbols, like lanterns. There are also wilds on all reels. But the game doesn’t come with any bonus or scatter symbols.

During any normal spin the background of the reels can change color. They can turn green, blue, or red.
If all five reels turn the same colour, the Mini Slot Machine Bonus is triggered.
Between 1 and 5 mini slots will appear on the screen. These slots will only show blank symbols and 8 symbols. Every time a winning combination on a singular slot appears, you get another free spin on that slot game. The feature ends when no more active slots are available.
Depending on the colour of the reels when you trigger the bonus, each mini slot has its own multiplier.

Verdict
I think they could have put a bit more effort into the theme. It feels pretty basic in my opinion.
But besides that, it’s a fine game. It’s one of those games with those mini slots, which there are more off. I personally am not a huge fan of these types of games, but I know they are popular.
