Rat Royale – Overview
Pragmatic Play released a new online slot game called Rat Royale.
The game takes players into a dark kingdom ruled by rats. You will find a dark and mysterious rat-themed setting in Rat Royale. The rats are surrounded by gold and treasures, with the Rat King taking center stage.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 5 symbols high and comes with 259 connected paylines. As long as symbols appear left to right and are on the same row, or one row lower, or higher, they connect and count.
For symbols you will find low paying card symbols and high paying rat symbols with different colored gems in their claws. There are also regular wild symbols that can come with a random multiplier of up to x100 and can appear on all reels. And special Rat King Wild symbols that will trigger a feature and can come with a multiplier of up to x500. Scatter symbols can land on all reels.
Rat Royale comes with a very nice maximum payout of 15.000x the bet and is a medium volatility slot game.
Features
Rat King Wilds
Regular Wilds can appear on all reels and come with a random multiplier of up to 100x.
But the game also comes with special Rat King Wilds. This special Wild can only land on the middle reel and comes with a random multiplier of up to 500x. When a Rat King Wild lands, it also triggers a special bonus based on the color of the gem it carries.
There are four different Rat Kings:
- Red – When the spin produces a win, the Rat King Wild expands to fill the entire middle reel. It then gains an extra 1x multiplier for every red-gem rat symbol visible on the reels.
- Purple – The Rat King Wild collects the multipliers from all regular Wild symbols currently on the screen and adds them to its own multiplier.
- Green – The Rat King Wild adds its current multiplier to the multipliers of all regular Wild symbols visible on the reels.
- Blue – All rat symbols carrying blue gems are transformed into regular Wild symbols with random multipliers.
Free Spins Feature
3, 4 or 5 Scatter symbols will trigger a Free Spins feature. Depending on how many scatters triggered the free spins determines the free spins mode you will play. Each version awards 10 free spins.
- Blood Ritual – 3 scatters
This is the most straightforward version of the bonus round. All Wild symbols that land during the feature come with a multiplier of at least 2x.
Rat King Wilds can also appear during the feature, allowing their special gem effects to create additional opportunities for bigger wins.
- Blood Pact – 4 scatters
In this version, a Rat King Wild remains in the center position of the middle reel throughout the Free Spins feature. Its gem can change color from spin to spin, activating different effects.
The Rat King Wild’s multiplier can increase during the feature and remains until the bonus.
- Blood Lust – 5 scatters
The Rat King Wild expands to cover the entire middle reel and remains there for the duration of the bonus. Like in Blood Pact, its gem can change color during and its multiplier can increase and will stay in place for the remaining of the feature.
* Landing 3 or more Scatter symbols during Free Spins will add 5 more free spins.
Buy Bonus
For 100 times your bet you can buy free spins, which will award 3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols. For 500 times bet you can buy free spins with a guarantee of 5 scatters, triggering Blood Lust.
Verdict
Rat Royale is an interesting slot game in both theme and features.
The features all revolve around wilds and Rat King Wilds. With the Rat King Wilds providing four different effects. But also the option to trigger three Free Spins modes that offer different ways to win.
These special Rat King Wilds are the most interesting part of the game. The different colored gem effects add enough variety.
Free Spins features also add something extra to the gameplay. Blood Ritual is the more straightforward option, while Blood Pact and Blood Lust introduce a persistent Rat King Wild that can increase its multiplier throughout the bonus round. Of course Blood Lust is the feature you are aiming for.
The dark rat theme gives the game its own unique look and the 15.000x maximum win offers some big win potential, especially for a medium volatile slot game.
Overall, Rat Royale is a great addition to Pragmatic Play’s library of games. And I think this game can become another hit for this provider.
