Last week Play’n Go released a new online slot game called Rotiki, which came with a Pacific Island theme. Now Pragmatic Play released a new games called Tropical Tiki, which kind of uses the same theme. Which of course fits with the current season we’re in.
Tropical Tiki is a very colorful slot game with different tropical fruits and bright colored masks, including standard card symbols. You will also find giant gold masks which are the scatter symbols. Wild symbols don’t appear on the game.
During the base game you will find 6 reels that are each 3 symbols high. Starting the game out with 729 ways. Which by the way will increase during the free spins feature.
Tropical Tiki comes with a maximum payout of 3.000 times your bet.
Tropical Tiki Features
Tumbles
When you get a winning combination this feature will be activated.
All winning symbols fall down on the reels and will stay there while all other symbols respin. As long as you improve your win, this will keep repeating.
Once the win is no longer improved you will be paid your total reward.
During these Tumbles any scatter symbols appearing are also held, increasing the chance to trigger the free spins feature.
Free Spins Feature
4 or more scatter symbols anywhere will trigger 8 free spins.
Free spins are played on 6 reels that are now each 5 symbols high. But the top two rows of symbols are locked.
Before each spin one random symbols from those locked reels is unlocked for the rest of the free spins.
A total of 8 symbols will become unlocked during the free spins, giving a maximum of 6.400 ways during the last free spins.
Of course the Tumbles feature is also still active during free spins.
You can’t win more free spins during the feature, scatter symbols do not appear.
Verdict
First let me start with the theme. It’s not original, there are a lot of these Pacific Island or Hawaiian themes. But of course they work, especially during the summer. And it’s very colorful, which I appreciate.
Then the gameplay. I like it a lot. I like the tumbles, which also seem to happen quite often. But especially during free spins this can become very interesting. Having more ways and then getting those respins or tumbles, can fill of the reels with the same symbols. Giving some great prizes.
The maximum payout of 3.000 times bet could be a higher, normally Pragmatic Play uses 5.000 times bet, no idea why did not use that number on this game. But of course 3.000 times bet is also a great maximum reward.
Tropical Tiki is a lot of fun and looks great. I’m not sure if it’s a game that will have longevity, but for now, great!
