Aztec Smash – Overview
Pragmatic Play released a new slot called Aztec Smash.
This cluster pays slot game uses an Aztec theme, which Pragmatic Play loves to use. Like on Fortunes of Aztec and Aztec Treasure Hunt.
The symbols are set on an Aztec pyramid within a jungle forest. It all looks as you would expect from an Aztec themed slot game.
The game uses a grid of 7 by 7 symbols and comes with cluster pays. Meaning that 5 or more of the same symbols, horizontally and/or vertically connected, count as a winning combination. Winning symbols are removed from the grid and remaining symbols fall down. New symbols then fall op top to create the possibility for another winning combination. Tumbles keep happening until no new winning combinations appear.
Besides low paying gems and high paying masks you will also find scatter symbols on all reels. The game doesn’t come with any wild symbols.
Aztec Smash comes with a pretty big maximum payout of 9.000 times bet and is a high volatile slot game.
Features
Smash Multplier
After each spin and tumble, random symbols can become highlighted on the grid. When one or more of these highlighted symbols are used in a winning combination, the win is multiplied by x10.
Free Spins Feature
3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 scatter symbols will award 10, 12, 15, 20 and 30 free spins respectively.
During free spins the Smash Multiplier starts at a x10 multiplier and will go up by x10 after each winning combination using a highlighted symbol. It will not reset between spins. Once the Smash Multiplier reaches x100, it will go up by x100 after each winning combination with a highlighted symbol. Up to a maximum multiplier of x1.000.
3 or more scatter symbols will add the same number of free spins as above.
Bonus Buy
For 100 times your bet you are able to buy the free spins feature. This will award between 3 and 7 scatter symbols.
Verdict
Aztec Smash is a pretty basic looking game, which I can see being confused with other Aztec themed slots. I wish they would have went with something different, to be honest.
But the game itself is pretty decent. Base spins aren’t that interesting, it can only award a x10 multiplier, but won’t award a lot of big wins. But during those free spins, where the multiplier goes up, pretty fast and doesn’t reset, the game can really go off.
If you like cluster pays slots, I am sure you are going to like Aztec Smash. But even if you aren’t the biggest fan, give this one a try. It’s not some over complicated slot, as some of them are.
