Boat Bonanza – Down Under Overview
Play’n Go has probably looked at Pragmatic Play and thought, what they can do with their Bis Bass series, we can do with our Boat Bonanza series. Since they have already released Boat Bonanza and Boat Bonanza – Colossal Catch. It’s now time for a third addition with Boat Bonanza – Down Under.
We are trading in the swordfish for a great white shark and are heading to Australia this time.
Of course they made some additions and changes, but a lot has also stayed the same.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 4 symbols high and comes with 12 lines. Again with the strange number of lines.
You will find standard card symbols and all sorts of beach and fishing stuff. You will also find fish symbols with a cash value on them and scatter symbols, which are the giant sharks. There are no wild symbols on this game.
Boat Bonanza – Down Under comes with a higher maximum payout than the earlier titles, 6.000 times bet and is a higher volatile slot game.
Features
Catch Feature
Above the reels you will find a fisherman on a floating ring. He will move above a new reel after each spin, or stay in place. When he wakes up he will do one of three things:
- Vertical Fish – He will collect all fishes from the reel he is at
- Surf n Catch – He will collect all fishes from all the reels and award a multiplier as high as reels that had fish
- Under Reel Collection – He will pull a special symbol from beneath a reel, this can be fish or a non winning symbol
Free Spins Feature
3 or more scatter symbols will award 10 free spins. There is also a trail above the reels which will be filled each time a shark lands on the same reel as the fisherman.
This trail will have spots that will award an extra modifier or 10 extra free spins with a higher multiplier.
Before free spins start you already get 1 active modifier and more can be collected during the progression of the trail.
The modifiers are:
- 10 extra free spins
- More Catch Triggers at x2 multiplier
- More Surf n Catch triggers at x2 multiplier
- Mmore Catch symbols and 2 lowest paying Catch symbols removed
- 3 lowest paying symbols removed
- At least 3 Catch symbol on each free spin
- Catch Multiplier increased to x5
- 2 random catch symbol sticky for 1 spin
Only 4 modifiers can be activated in total and only 1 of each type of modifier.
A total of 50 free spins can be played during the feature.
Verdict
This is the third in the series. And to be honest, I thought the second one was a bit boring. But this third one is also not a game I would rave about.
It’s a lot of the same. The base game is very boring. The fisherman doesn’t wake up that often and when he does, it’s small rewards.
For free spins they added these modifiers this time. They do make the free spins feature a little more fun. Although it’s of course nothing we haven’t seen before.
Because the base game is, for me, very boring, the free spins feature should be outstanding. And it just isn’t, it’s fine, but that’s it.
I am not sure if Play’n Go will continue with this series, but I would be fine if this was the last addition to be honest. But judge for yourself and let me know what you think in the comment section.
