Crabby’s Gold 2 – Overview
Last year Play’n Go released a slot game called Crabby’s Gold. Which was a pirate themed slot with high win potential.
I personally wasn’t the biggest fan of that title, it was a pretty basic game in my opinion. But also had huge win potential.
But apparently the game was successful because here we are with a sequel simply called Crabby’s Gold 2.
The theme has pretty much stayed them same, a pirate themed slot. But now the reels are set against the pirates hideout it seems and we have a mermaid guarding a chest on the left.
The game uses 6 reels which are each 4 symbols high and uses 4096 ways instead of paylines.
Besides low paying card symbols and medium to high paying pirate symbols there also an array of other symbols. First there are wild symbols, which can appear on all reels and come with several of their own features and upgrades, more on that below. Then we have scatters which are collected to upgrade the wild symbols. And lastly we have coin symbols on all reels and pouch symbols on reels 1 and 6.
Crabby’s Gold 2 comes with a massive maximum payout of 100.000 times your and is a high volatile game.
Features
Treasure Trail (Wilds)
Each scatter that appears is collected into a meter on the top of the reels. Each time you collect 5 of them, you are awarded with a special re-spin feature with a special wild symbol. These wilds are:
- Expanding Sticky Wild – comes with a random multiplier of x1, x2, x3 or x5 and awards 3 re-spins
- Expanding Walking Wild – comes with a random multiplier of x1, x2, x3 or x5 and will move one reel to the left after each spin. Feature ends when no more walking wild is on the reels or after 10 re-spins
- Mega Wild – 2×2 symbols big
Coin Collect
Pouch symbols can land on reel 1 and 6. And whenever one or both land, they will collect all values from any coins on the screen. Coins come with a value of between 0,5 and 25 times bet.
Hold’n Spin
Each time coins aren’t collected into a pouch, as explained above, they are added to a treasure chest. This chest will activate at random when coins are collected and will trigger the Hold’n Spin bonus.
During these spins only coins appear and you will receive 3 re-spins. Each time a new coin lands, the re-spins are reset. After you run out of spins all coins will reveal a value of between x1 and x30 times bet. After this you also get the option to gamble your win, double or nothing.
Go Ultra
Play’n Go added a special feature called Go Ultra. When activated it will double all prizes from coins during Coin Collect and Hold’n Spin.
Verdict
I’m sorry, but why did they release this game? It’s almost the exact same game as the original. The only differences is the maximum payout is increased, which seems to be very hard to reach by the way. The addition of the Go Ultra mechanism. And a little more difference in the wilds. But that’s not enough to make this game stand out.
When writing this review, I was like, but that’s the same and this is almost the same.
So for me, this game isn’t really adding anything. But I do understand that because of the huge maximum payout, it will attract players.
And it’s also not to say it’s a bad game. It’s just not different or special enough. Especially since the original was already a pretty basic slot game.
