The game uses 7 reels that are each 7 symbols high and comes with cluster pays, instead of lines. 5 or more identical symbols that are horizontally and/or vertically connected, count as a winning combination. And there are also tumbles or cascading symbols. Meaning that winning symbols are removed from the reels, new symbols fall on top, creating the option for another win.
Besides low paying ruse symbols you will also find medium to high paying Norse symbols, like Thor’s hammer. There are no wild symbols, but there are scatter symbols on all reels.

Special Expanding Symbol
During any base spin, a randomly picked symbol can become an Expanding Symbol.
The picked symbols will not be removed and will stay on the reels until all winning tumbles are done. After that each Expanding Symbol on the reels will expand to become 4 symbols big, in a 2×2 symbol. After this the symbols pay as normal, but are not removed from the reels after winnings are paid.

Verdict
Play’n Go was the best at Cluster Pays slots for years, but it seems that Pragmatic Play is gaining on them, since they have released some amazing titles already.
And this new Loki’s Riches slot is no exception.
The theme is nice. Maybe a bit overused, but it does fit the mechanisms, a little, since Loki is the shapeshifter. I know symbols don’t change, but they expand, changing other symbols on the reels into the Expanding symbol. Again sort of ;-).
The Expanding symbols keep the base game going. But especially during free spins this feature is great, since it’s always active. Of course you want a lot of high paying Expanding symbols to get some big wins. Which is a possibility since maximum payout is big with 10.000 times bet.
