5 Lions Megaways 2 – Overview
Back in 2021, Pragmatic Play released a slot game called 5 Lions Megaways, which was Megaways version of their other title 5 Lions. A game which is pretty much a clone of the classic 5 Dragons slot by Aristocrat.
Now the Megaways version is getting a sequel with 5 Lions Megaways 2. A game which uses pretty much the same mechanisms as the earlier titles, but does offer bigger multipliers and some small other changes.
The theme is pretty much the same as on all other slots within this series, an Asian animals theme.
You will find 6 reels that are each between 2 and 8 symbols high during each spin. Awarding up to 262.144 Megaways per spin. Which is more than the usual 117.649 Megaways most games come with.
Winning combinations are removed from the reels and new symbols fall on top, creating the option for another win, within the same spin. This keeps continuing until no new winning combination appears.
Besides low paying card symbols, you will also find different Asian themed animals. Wild symbols, which are the lion symbols, can appear on all reels. And lastly there are the scatter symbols. This is a Yin Yang symbol and can also appear on all reels, there are regular ones and Super scatters, which are golden.
5 Lions Megaways 2 comes with a maximum payout of 8.000 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.

Free Spins Feature
3 or more normal scatter symbols will award the free spins feature.
Before free spins start, pick a number of free spins with associated multipliers, or pick the random one to get a combination of free spins and multipliers. You can get between 5 and 25 free spins and multipliers of between x2 and x100.
During free spins there are now golden coins, each time you collect 3, the lowest number of multiplier will be removed and you get 3 extra free spins. After three times, you only win extra free spins.
Super Free Spins Feature
If at least one of the scatters is a super scatter, you will be receiving between 1 and 10 extra free spins on top of your choice and the free spins can randomly start on level 2.
If all scatters are Super Scatters, you will receive 35 free spins with a 100x multiplier.
Buy Bonuses
You are able to buy three different bonus features:
- Regular free spins for 100 times bet
- Super free spins for 150 times bet
- Super free spins or the maximum of 35 free spins with a 100x multiplier for 500 times bet (this will award either Super Free Spins or the Maximum Free Spins at random)
Verdict
This sequel is a natural progression of the original Megaways slot. It uses pretty much the same mechanisms and features. But it added those Super Free Spins and the extra coins that award better multipliers and more free spins. Which I think is done very nicely.
Of course the best possible outcome are those 35 free spins with a 100 times multiplier, which is almost a guarantee to get some huge wins.
The only negative I have for 5 Lions Megaways 2 is the fact that maximum payout, although higher that the original, seems to be low. Especially with a game that can award 100 times multiplier and over 200.000 ways. But that’s all.
