Beach Invaders Overview
Soon NetEnt will be releasing Lost Relics 2, but for now they have a added a new slot game called Beach Invaders.
Beach Invaders is a colorful slot game that uses aliens that are taking a vacation on Earth as a theme. Very specific I know, but also unique.
The reels are set inside a tiki bar against a beachside background. It feels very tropical.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 4 symbols high and comes with 30 lines.
Besides standard card symbols you will also find all sorts of tropical cocktails with alien parts. There are also Free Spins symbols on all reels. And finally there are wild symbols, the wild symbol always expands to cover the entire reel. But also comes with special features, which I will explain below.
Beach Invaders comes with a solid maximum payout of 10.500 times bet and is a high volatile slot game.
Beach Invaders Features
On top of the reels you will find a progress bar with 4 parts.
During every spin special ice cube symbols are present on top of normal symbols. These symbols will be collected into the progress bar.
When you reach a step on the progress bar, this stands for how many spins a wild symbol will be locked when one appears. So if you reached step 2 and a wild symbol appears, it will expand and stay on that reel for the next 2 spins.
When you fill the progress bar completely, reaching the 4th level. A random reel will become wild and will stay wild for 4 spins. After this the total progress bar is reset and you start collecting ice cubes all over.
Free Spins Feature
3 or more Free Spins symbols will award 10 free spins.
During free spins each wild symbol will still expand and get a x1 multiplier. The next spin, the wild symbol will shrink in size 1 symbol and move a reel to the left or right and the multiplier will increase by x1. When a wild symbol reaches a 1×1 size and have a x4 multiplier, it will be removed the next spin.
More than one wild symbols can be present during free spins. The highest multiplier is the active multiplier, they aren’t added together.
I’m conflicted on this one. On one hand, I do think the theme is fun and the features are something different and sound fun, on paper.
But on the other hand, after playing the game for a while now, it never got really exciting. The progress bar fills up pretty fast, but wild symbols don’t seem to appear very often. And when reaching the final level, a lot of the time the wild is added to reel 4 or 5, which isn’t the best spot.
Also, free spins aren’t easy to trigger, at least, so it seems. And during free spins wild symbols seem to be just as hard to get. So the whole point of the walking wilds with multipliers doesn’t come into play a lot.
Of course this is my personal experience while playing over 500 spins. This might be coincidental.
The game is now available at all NetEnt casinos.
