Pragmatic Play already has two games that also use an octopus as the main character, called Release the Kraken and Release the Kraken 2. And although this game seems to be a standalone, it does feel a bit like it belongs to the same series of games.
The theme revolves around air pirates, a bit like the classic Disney movie, Treasure Planet. The reels are set inside an airship within the clouds, with more airships around.

Random Expanding Wild Feature
At random, during any base spin, a golden frame of 2×2, 3×3, 4×4, 5×5 or 6×6 symbols big can appear on a random spot on the reels.
If a wild symbol lands within the golden frame, the wild will expand and fill the entire frame. If more than one wild symbol lands within a frame the expanded wild will get a multiplier equal to the number of wilds within the frame.
Free Spins Features
3 or more bonus symbols will award 6 free spins.
During free spins the golden frame is always active and this starts with a 2×2 size.
Each scatter symbol appearing is collected and added to a meter above the reels. Every 3 bonus symbols collected will add 2 more free spins and will increase the golden frame size. It will go from 2×2 to 3×3, 4×4, 5×5 and finally 6×6.
If you manage to trigger free spins with 4, 5 or 6 bonus symbols, you already start with 1, 2 and 3 bonus symbols collected.
Bonus Buy
For 100 times your bet you are able to buy the free spins feature. This will award at least 3 bonus symbols.

Verdict
I really like this game. I think thr theme is fun and I also think the features are excellent.
During base spins the golden frame seems to appear quite often, so this keeps the game going and interesting. And of course during free spins you want to collect those bonus symbols to get a bigger wild. Which by the way reminds me of Fat Rabbit by Push Gaming.
It all works well together and makes for a very enjoyable game. My only small negative is the fact that I wish the game gotten a bigger maximum payout. This one seems to be capable of a lot more than 5.000 times bet. But that’s just a small thing.
