It’s time for a new Pragmatic Play release. And this time they went with a pirate theme with Pirates Pub.
Of course the pirate theme has been popular for a long time and even recently we’ve seen a pirate themed release from Play’n Go called Captain Glum.
It’s a pretty basic slot with not that many features, so it’s going to a short review.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 3 symbols high and uses 9 lines.

When you get 3, 4 or 5 wild symbols anywhere you will trigger the free spins feature. The number of free spins you receive is random.
- 3 wild symbols will award 5, 6, 7 or 8 free spins.
- 4 wild symbols will award 8, 9, 10 or 11 free spins.
- 5 wild symbols will award 11, 12, 13, 14 or 15 free spins.
The free spins consist of 2 parts. During the first part the wild symbols that triggered the bonus will leave a border around the spots. Each time a new wild symbols land, they will also leave a border. When a wild symbol lands inside an already marked spot it will be upgraded. Which can happen up to 5 times.
3, 4, or 5 wild symbols at the same time will add a random number of extra free spins, just like when triggering the bonus.
When all free spins are done, the second part of the bonus starts.
Here you will receive between 2 and 5 Super Free Spins.
All spots with a border will now become wild symbols and will stay sticky during all these Super Free Spins.
Depending on whether or not spots are upgraded, a sticky wild can have a multiplier of up to x5.
During this second part of the free spins you can’t win extra free spins.

Verdict
Let me start by saying that the theme is fine. It’s nothing we haven’t seen before, but at least it’s colorful.
The game itself is a bit of the same. It’s fine. But also nothing special.
The sticky wilds are nice. But because the free spins and the extra free spins are random, you can be awarded with a less than desirable combination. And you want enough spins to collect more sticky wilds.
The game feels a bit basic. It’s enjoyable for a while, but I’m guessing most players will forget this release soon.
