Play’n Go has released a new slot game called Sherwood Gold. Making use of the Robin Hood theme. Referencing Sherwood Forest of course in the title. This is one of those themes that is being used pretty regularly and even Play’n Go themselves have already released Riches of Robin. Which to be honest, does have a lot of similarities.
The game looks very bright and uses everything you would expect from a Robin Hood themed game.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 3 symbols high and comes with 20 lines.
Besides standard card symbols you will also find different characters, including Robin Hood as the highest paying one. There are also wild symbols, big white castles, on all reels. All these symbols can appear stacked on all reels. Then we also have a quiver with arrows on reels 1, 3 and 5 during the base game that counts as the bonus symbols. And finally Cash Bag symbols, which can appear on all reels.

Cash Bags
Cash Bags can appear on all reels and when you land 3 or more of them during the base game, you are awarded with an instant cash rewards.
3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 Cash Bag symbols will award 1x, 5x, 20x, 80x, 200x, 800x and 2.000x bet respectively.
Shoot the Targets
Quivers only appear on reels 1, 3 and 5. These can have 1, 2 or 3 arrows inside them. Landing all three quivers at the same time will award the Shoot the Target Bonus.
You are taken to a screen with 9 different targets. You get to pick as many targets as arrows that where in the quivers. So a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 9. Each target will reveal Free Spins, Multipliers or a Cash Bag Boost
When you have picked all your targets, the free spins feature will begin.
You will receive your number of free spins found during the earlier bonus, with the multiplier collected. Multiplier doesn’t apply to any Cash Bag wins. But the Cash Bag rewards are increased if you happen to find Cash Bag Boosters. And seem to appear more often during free spins.
Quiver symbols appear on all reels during free spins, but the arrows don’t matter anymore. Any quiver appearing will award 1 more free spin. A maximum of 110 free spins can be played.
Verdict
The theming together with the features work well together.
And although nothing is really new or innovating, Play’n Go did manage to add some nice little extras with that Shoot the Targets.
But it’s also one of those games where you need to the free spins to get some decent wins. Of course you can get a lot of Cash Bags during a base game, but all other symbols are very low paying. So you need those multipliers during free spins.
Overall it’s a fine game. It’s nothing new, nothing really special, but I do enjoy the game. And I think a lot of players will. So definitely give it a try.
