It seems Pragmatic Play was a bit late with this release, because to me this seemed more fit around Halloween, instead of closer to Christmas, but here we are. With a new release called Bloody Dawn. A western themed slot combines with vampires. Which looks like they have taken a lot of inspiration from From Dusk Till Dawn. The very well-known movie from Quentin Tarantino.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 4 symbols high and comes with 1024 ways instead of paylines.
You will also find tumbling reels. Winning symbols are removed and all remaining symbols fall down, new symbols are then added on top, creating the possibility for several winning tumbles in a row.
Besides low paying card symbols and high paying vampire Indians and cowboys with a death mask, you will also find scatter symbols on all reels. Wild symbols can only appear due to a special feature, explained below.
Bloody Dawn comes with a maximum payout of 5.000 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.
Features
Increasing Multiplier
A general multiplier is present during base spins which starts on x1. After each winning tumble this multiplier goes up by x1. If no more winning combinations appear, multiplier is reset back to x1 for the next spin.
Golden Symbols and Wilds
Normal paying symbols can also appear as golden symbols at random. These can only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. When a golden symbol is used in a winning combination, for the next tumble, the symbol is changed into a wild symbol.
Free Spins Feature
3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 scatter symbols will award 12 free spins with a starting multiplier of x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x7 and x8 respectively.
During free spins the multiplier is increased after each winning tumble with the same multiplier that triggered the bonus. So if you triggered free spins with 5 scatters, it will increase by x3 after each winning tumble.
The multiplier also doesn’t reset between free spins and can only go up.
During the feature reel 3 is also guaranteed to land only golden symbols.
3 or more scatters during free spins will add 6 more free spins.
Bonus Buy
You are able to buy the Free spins feature for 100x, 200x, 300x bet, which will award 3, 4 and 5 scatter symbols respectively. For 250x bet you are able to but free spins, which will award 3, 4 or 5 scatters at random.
Verdict
Bloody Dawn’s theme is supposed to be From Dusk Till Dawn, in my opinion. Of course, I’m not sure. But with the title being Bloody Dawn, it feels like that was the idea. It’s a fine theme and I am happy that it’s something new, something we don’t see that often.
The gameplay is fun. I like the tumbles and the increasing multiplier.Together with the wilds from the golden symbols. But all those features really start coming together during free spins and also if you manage to get a lot more than 3 scatters. So the multiplier ramps up fast.
Overall I think Bloody Dawn is a solid game. Although it might not appeal to everybody, especially with the more horror type theme.
