Himalayan Wild – Overview
If you are familiar with some classic slot games, you might have heard of Big Red, a classic slot game from Aristocrat. That used a repeat feature.
Well it seems that Pragmatic Play has now released a new game, called Himalayan Wild, that is basically a clone of that classic game.
Himalayan Wild comes with an animal theme surrounding the Himalayas, as the name suggests. The reels are set against the mountains and as for symbols you will find different types of animals alongside the mountain peak bonus symbol.
You will find 5 reels that are each 3 symbols high and the slot uses only 5 lines. Just like the original classic slot.
Besides low paying card symbols and high paying animals you will also find the mountain peak as a bonus symbol. This symbol only comes in play during free spins, during the base game it counts as a normal symbol. Lastly there are wild symbols on reels 3, 4 and 5.
Himalayan Wild comes with a big maximum payout of 10.000 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.
Features
Free Spins Feature
Any winning combination that contains at least 1 wild symbol will trigger the free spins feature.
During free spins the mountain symbol will now become a bonus symbol and will get the value of the triggering winning combination.
You will start with 3 free spins. Each time one or more mountain symbols appear, you will be awarded with the value and the free spins reset back to 3.
You can trigger the feature again during free spins, these are played after the current bonus ends and the mountain symbols will the receive the value of the winning combination.
Jackpots
During free spins you are also able to win one of the three jackpot amounts. The Minor (30x), Major (100x) and Mega (1.000x).
If during free spins the jackpot symbol lands on reel 1 and one of the 3 jackpot symbols land on reel 5 at the same time, the corresponding jackpot is awarded.
Bonus Buy
Free spins can be bought for 100 times bet. For 300 times bet you can buy the Super Free Spins, which will award a guaranteed winning combination with one of the 4 highest paying symbols.
Verdict
I think it’s pretty fun that Pragmatic Play used that old mechanism of Big Red for this game. It’s a bonus that is pretty rare and not used that often.
During the base game, the game is a bit boring with only 5 paylines and nothing else. But those free spins, or re-spins you might call it, can really award huge. As you can see in my screenshot.
Getting a nice big win with a wild triggers the feature and getting a lot of Himalaya symbols can ramp up winnings fast. And I also like it that the game can even retrigger.
I know it’s an old principle and, except for the bonus but option, a direct clone of Big Red. But that game is now, I think at least 20 years old and was only available in land-based casinos. So it’s nice players can now try it out online.
