King of Sweets – Overview
Play’n Go has released another one of their cluster pays slots, which they are pretty known for.
This new slot game is called King of Sweets and comes with a very colorful candy theme. Which seems to be popular with these times of games.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 5 symbols high and comes with a cluster pays mechanism. Four or more of the same symbols, horizontally and/or vertically connected, count as a winning combination. And you will also find cascading symbols. Winning clusters are removed and new symbols are dropped in from above, to create the option for several wins within the same spin.
For symbols you will find small and larger candy, for low and high paying symbols. Then there is the King, which is the wild symbol. which only appears when filling the Sweet-o-meter on the left, explained below. There is however also a unicorn, which is a multiplying wild symbols and award a random multiplier of x2, x3 or x5, which can land normally. There are no scatter or bonus symbols.
King of Sweets comes with a maximum payout of 5.000 times your bet and is a medium volatile slot game.
Features
Sweet-O-Meter
Winning combinations will charge the Sweet-o-meter next to the reels. After certain points it will trigger a modifier or feature:
- Jelly Time – 8 charges – will award between 2 to 4 normal wilds
- Delicious – 16 charges – will award between 2 to 4 normal wilds and when these are used will trigger symbol transformations and/or removals
- Candy Craze – 30 charges – will award between 2 to 4 normal wilds and when these are used, trigger certain upgrades from low to high paying symbols
- Flavour Frenzy Free Spin – 48 charges
Flavour Frenzy Free Spin
After triggering, as mentioned above, it will award a free spin with 3 Sweet-o-meter features loaded. The meter can also overload and can then award 4, 5, 6 and a maximum of 7 features.
The features are triggered, one after another, when there is no win and continue until you have no more features.
Verdict
As with a lot of these cluster pays slots from Play’n Go. At first the game feels a bit confusing, a bit too much random features and added modifiers at once. But once playing, it’s a pretty standard game with just, minor, added features like symbols removal or upgrades and random wilds.
A lot of Play’n Go’s cluster pays slots are amazing and are also very popular. This one seems a bit tame, a bit basic. Maybe it’s also because it’s a medium volatile game?
I liked playing the game, it’s colorful and features happen a lot. But it never got exciting for me, somehow.
So, this one might not have the staying power as some of the others.
