Mafia Gold Overview
Play’n Go released a new online slot game called Mafia Gold. A game set in New York during some kind of mafia war during the 20’s and 30’s, the time when for instance Al Capone was active. And exactly the theme you would expect from a mafia themed game.
You will find 5 reels that are each 4 symbols high and the game uses 30 paylines. You will also find a 6th reel, which only shows multipliers and blank spots, more on that later.
Symbols are easy, you have low paying card symbols and medium to high paying mafiosi. And also the mafia boss, which comes in red and gold. Then there are wild symbols and scatter symbols, which can appear on all reels.
Mafia Gold comes with a maximum payout of 6.000 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.
Features
Multiplier Reel
During the base game, the sixth reel will display blank spots or multiplier between x2 and x10. When the golden boss symbol lines up with a multiplier, all wins are multiplied by the lined up multiplier.
Drive by Wilds
At random, during any base spin, wild symbols might be added to the reels, after which the reels stop spinning. Up to a maximum of 11 random wilds can be added.
Mystery Instant Win
When you get 2 scatter symbols, there is a chance for an instant win of between 5 and 20 times bet.
Free spins Feature
3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols will award 10, 15 and 20 free spins respectively.
During free spins the sixth reel only displays blank spots, cash values and bullets.
All cash values are collected and added to the safe on top of the reel. The total collected cash is added to your total win at the end of the free spins.
When bullets line up with a golden boss symbol, they are fired at the mafiosi on top of the reels. When a character is hit 10 times, the mafiosi will change into a red boss symbol until the end of the free spins.
If you manage to eliminate all four mafiosi, you are awarded with 5 more free spins and will also trigger the Cash Hit Feature. Now reel 6 only shows safes and blank spots. The safes have the total value of your safe on top of reel 6. When you line up a gold boss with a safe, you will instantly receive the value.
Verdict
Play’n Go really packed a lot into this new slot game. The base game has enough interesting features to keep the game going. And also the free spins comes with several bonuses.
But somehow the game is hard, very hard. The base game features seem to trigger now and then, which is fine. But free spins seem to trigger pretty rarely. And even then, once triggered, eliminating those mafiosi, so collecting those bullets, seems to be a hard task. I never even eliminated one of the mafiosi, let alone all 4 to trigger that Cash Hit Feature.
Maybe I was just very unlucky, but I have played the game for a solid amount of time and didn’t seem to get it.
I like the theme, I like the features, but I do think it’s a very though game to get some huge wins on.
