Ankh of Anubis Awakening Overview
Back in 2019 Play’n Go released a game called Ankh of Anubis. Which somehow I didn’t review. But now, 5 years later they come with a sequel called Ankh of Anubis Awakening.
This game uses the same Egyptian theme surrounding the God Anubis. Which was the Egyptian God of the afterlife. Like with the original game, this game also switches it up and sets the Egyptian theme into the future, with makes for a very cool looking mix of era’s.
You will find 5 reels that are each 3, 4, 4, 4 and 3 symbols high and gives a total of 576 ways instead of paylines. Symbols pay from left to right, starting from reel 1, no matter where on the reels the symbols appear.
Besides low paying card symbols, you will find all sorts of Egyptian themed high paying symbols. Then there are also wild and scatter symbols on all reels.
Ankh of Anubis Awakening comes with a very big maximum win of 15.000 times bet and is a medium volatile slot game.
Features
Anubis Wild
At random this feature can trigger during any base spin. Between 4 and 8 wild symbols are randomly placed onto the reels, after which the reels stop spinning.
Anubis Re-spin
When one or more wild symbols and one or more scatter symbols appear and no winning combination is present, the Anubis Re-spin feature is triggered.
All wild symbols that are already on the reels will become sticky and will expand up or down after each spin and are removed once they have filled the entire reel.
No new wild symbols can appear and up to 3 free re-spins can be awarded.
Free Spins Feature
3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols will award 10, 15 and 20 free spins respectively.
During free spins, each scatter (ankh) will be collected and added to a meter on top of the reels. Each time you have collected 5 of them, a random number of wilds are added to the reels and the Anubis Re-spin feature is triggered. During these re-spins, scatters can’t appear.
After that the normal free spins continue.
3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols at the same time during free spins will add 3, 4 and 5 extra free spins, up to a maximum of 500.
Verdict
I love how this game looks. Yes it’s another Egyptian themed game from Play’n Go, they really love their ancient Egypt at Play’n Go. But they gave it that futuristic skin, which looks amazing, in my opinion.
For the gameplay, I like it. I think the re-spins are fun and keep the base game interesting. And during free spins you even get those re-spins in between normal free spins, which I also really like. And of course the possibility of winning up to 500 free spins. Although I am sure that’s very rare to achieve.
The game isn’t that different from the original. It uses the same reels setup and also comes with those wild reels. But this one adds those growing wilds with re-spins.
Overall Ankh of Anubis Awakening is a solid game, definitely worth a try.
