It’s time for a new slot release from Play’n Go and this time the game is called Jolly Roger – Wild Kraken. If the name sounds familiar, that’s because Play’n Go already released other games with the main character, JollyRoger. Like for instance Jolly Roger II.
Like the other games, this one also comes with a pirate theme. The reels are set on a deck of a pirate ship and you will find swords, cannons and of Jolly Roger himself.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 3 high and comes with 20 paylines.
Besides low paying card symbols and high paying pirate symbols like cannons and swords, you will also find wild symbols on all reels. Then there are scatter symbols, which appear stacked on all reels. And lastly 2 special symbols, a chest and a key on reel 1 and 5 respectively.

Instant Treasure
On reel 1 you can land a Treasure Chest symbol and on reel 5 a Key symbol can appear. These only appear during base spins. When both land you are awarded an instant cash reward of between 5 and 50 times your bet.
Cannon Free Spins
Cannonball symbol are the scatter symbols and can appear stacked on all reels. They also come with a x2, x3 or x5 multiplier. Getting 6 or more scatter symbols will trigger Cannon Free Spins.
You will get the same number of free spins as scatters that triggered the feature.
Before free spins start all cannonballs and their multipliers are collected into a cannonball meter above the reels.
During free spins a full reel will become a wild kraken, which will walk between reels 2, 3 and 4 during each free spin.
A cannonball will load into a cannon during each free spin, with their respective multiplier. The walking wild kraken will receive the multiplier from the cannonball when a winning combination appears and then the cannonball will load into the right part of the meter. If there is no win, the cannonball will not get collected.
Any scatter symbol appearing during free spins will add 1 more free spin and is also added to the left part of the cannonball meter. You are able to win up to 49 free spins.
Super Cannon Free Spins
Super Cannon Free Spins will trigger if you manage to get 6 winning combinations with 6 cannonballs during normal free spins.
You are awarded with 4 Super Cannonball free spins. Before they are played, pick a cannonball to reveal a multiplier of x10, x15, x25, x50 or x100.
Now, any winning combination with the Kraken, will be multiplied by this newly picked multiplier.
Verdict
Jolly Roger – Wild Kraken is probably the best game in the series. It comes with a fun little mini game during base spins. And a cool free spins feature. Which is not new, Play’n Go has more games that come with these big multipliers, but it’s always an exciting thing. Especially when you are able to get that 50x or 100x multiplier.
It also comes with a big maximum win of 20.000 times bet, even though it’s a medium volatile game. Which I also appreciate a lot.
Theme wise, it’s a bit standard, a bit, we’ve seen this before. But I can understand it, since it’s in the series.
