When I started this game I thought it was a Hacksaw Gaming slot. Just the way it all looks. But it turns out, the game is from a provider called Backseat Gaming, but they did release it using Hacksaw Gaming’s platform, hence my confusion.
For this game, with a bit of a strange name, they went with a farming theme. A very popular theme which always works well.
The reels are set against a quiet farm with a sleeping grandpa next to the reels.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 4 symbols high and comes with 26 lines. I know, what a specific number.
Besides standard card symbols and all sorts of farm animals, you will also find Farmer symbols and Dirt symbols, which appear on all reels and are needed to trigger a special bonus. Lastly we have bonus symbols on all reels, needed to trigger free spins.
Sleepy Grandpa comes with a maximum payout of 10.000 times bet and is a medium volatile slot game.

Dig Feature
When at least one Farmer symbol and at least one Dig symbol appear at the same time, this feature is triggered.
The Farmer will dig up the Dirt symbols which will reveal a cash value of x1, x2, x3, x5, x10, x25, x59, x75, x100, x250, x500 or x1000 times bet.
More than one Farmer and Dirt symbol can land at the same time. Each Farmer will dig up all Dirt spots.
Tractor
When at least one Farmer lands, but no Dig spots, there is a chance that a tractor is activated. A tractor will move across the reels and remove all symbols except Farmers and Bonus symbols. It will then leave behind between 1 and 10 Dig symbols, activating the Dig Feature. The tractor can appear during base games and during free spins.
Free Spins Feature
3, 4 and 5 bonus symbols will award 10, 12 and 15 free spins respectively.
During free spins each Farmer symbol appearing will be collected on a meter to the left of the reels. Each time you have collected 4 Farmers, you will go up a level. This will award 3 extra free spins and also increase the multiplier from x1 to x2, x3, x5 and finally x10.
The multiplier only applies to rewards from a Dig.
During free spins you can also get a Golden Farmer. When this appears, it will stay on the reel during all remaining free spins. And will add 1 Farmer to the meter after each spin. Only 1 Golden Farmer can appear during free spins.
Bonus Buy
Casinos might offer the option to buy free spins for 100 times your bet. This will guarantee a minimum of 3 bonus symbols, but 4 or 5 are also possible.
Verdict
I really like this game.
The theme is fun and nicely done and the bonuses and features are a lot of fun. Especially those free spins, with several levels, which I always enjoy.
This game doesn’t offer anything new, but I don’t mind that. I think it’s a solid title that is definitely worth a try.
