Gates of Olympus is a very popular game by Pragmatic Play that was released in the beginning of 2021. And now Pragmatic Play has released a sort of follow-up to this title, Sword of Ares.

Sword of Ares comes with an ancient Greek theme. With Greek columns, and a Greek warrior besides the reels.

The game uses 6 reels which are each 5 symbols high. And this game uses scatter pays. Eight or more of the same symbols anywhere on screen will count as a winning combination.

Wild symbols aren’t available on this game, scatter symbols appear on all reels.

Tumbles

Winning combinations are removed from the reels and all symbols fall down. New symbols fall on top. After this you can get another winning combination and the process keeps repeating until no new winning combinations appear.

Multiplier Collection Feature

On top of the reels you will find a meter with 3 different multipliers. During each new spin these multipliers will randomly change.

When you get winning tumbles, the winning symbols are collected and added to this meter. Collect enough symbols to activate the corresponding mulitplier. After all tumbles are done, the total winning are multiplied by the reached multiplier.

These multipliers are:

• First step – x2, x3 or x4 when 20 symbols are collected
• Second step – x5, x6, x7 or x8 when 50 symbols are collected

Verdict

I think Pragmatic Play did a great job with this new title. The game feels a lot like Gates of Olympus. And to be honest, is in many ways the same game. But somehow made it different enough to enjoy both.

Here the multipliers are collected differently. But a lot of the main features stayed the same.

But one thing that is increased a lot is the maximum payout from 5.000 times bet to 10.000 times bet. Which will be much more attractive to most players.

I really liked Gates of Olympus, in fact it’s one of my favorite Pragmatic Play slots. And now I have another one, because I really this new title as well.
